The Ponyta seemed confused, ~Need?~ Like, need food? This creature was very confusing. She nickered in thought, she wasn't hungry ( and was surrounded by food ), and she wasn't thirsty. She didn't really need anything in that case, then, right? ~No?~ she tilted her head, as though asking if that was the right answer to the question.

He moved from foot to foot nervously, whispering very quietly to Walnut, not moving his eyes from the extremely awesome fire horse creature in front of him. <So- like... uh.. how screwed up would it be if I attacked her?>
He swallowed as Bane gave him a reproachful snort. The Charmander stepped forward slowly, trying to look as friendly as possible. <What are you?> She asked, stopping a distance away from the pokemon, <My ridiculous trainer doesn't know how to use the machine that tells us, apperantly.>
Dmitriy blushed and considered grabbing the pokedex. He decided it'd be too much work and he felt like making quick moves was a bad idea. He would be pissed at himself if he scared her off by sudden movements.

The Cranidos reguarded him with a mildly surprised look, ~Very.~ was all he offered, watching the flame-maned Pokemon curiously. He wondered what, exactly, Dmitriy would do with the first Pokemon he couldn't smash.
The horse flicked her ears forward and back in thought; they weren't from here. Trainer! ~Oh, Mother told me about Trainers.~ she turned and looked at the tall creature for a long moment, before adding, ~She said they were like Pokemon and food. There's good ones, and bad ones. "There are some that will let you grow into greatness, and there will be some that will bind you to the earth."~ she nodded her head, wondering which this 'trainer' thought he was, before her eyes began to shine proudly, ~My name is Karma! Karma, the Ponyta. One day, I'll be a strong, fast, Rapidash! Just like Mother.~ she looked wistful for a moment, before looking at the lizard closely, ~Who're you?~ she didn't recall seeing any of Bane's kind in the Wild before.

Dmitriy sighed, but took the Cranidos' word for it and didn't make any attempt to harm the wild pokemon... the strangely named wild pokemon. Karma? He blinked, looking confused for a second before smiling. Apperantly he'd been good for Karma to be coming to him in such a beautifully flame-covered form...
Bane sat up on her haunches, looking over the fire pokemon. <That's an interesting name, Karma.> She said, <I'm Bane, a Charmander traveling with my trainer Dmitriy. And, helping us along the journey is Walnut, the Cranidos. We came from quite a ways away, so we're unfamiliar with the pokemon and general habits in this area.>

Karma seemed thoughtful, ~Oh, yes. Mother mentioned you traveled. How long have you been together?~ she looked between the two, very at ease. She seemed to have totally forgotten the entire Spearow incident; and in fact - so did the rest of the area. Noise started back up and a Ledyba flew by and landed on a nearby tree.
Walnut grinned at his name, and waved to the Ponyta, leaning closer to Dmitriy, ~Did I ever mention there are more ways to catch a Pokemon than by battle?~ his eyes flashed in amusement, as he got up from his little nest to stretch.

<No, you didn't, but I fail to see how else to catch them if you're supposed to weaken them first.> He shot back, <Besides, she'd come to forgive me eventually... right?>
Bane shrugged. <Two weeks or so. Not too long, but we're super close though, already. If you ever get a trainer, make sure you get one that keeps you out of the pokeball. It helps. Though, you're not the right size to hitch a ride on their back so maybe not..>

~It all depends; but I wouldn't.~ he answered, grinning. ~I've been trying to teach you to use your resources, and think outside the box. Though, I suppose in your case it's "outside the battle". Pokemon aren't just mindless zombies, they have hearts and minds too.~
Karma's ears perked, ~Two weeks? That's quite awhile.~ she giggled, looking over at Dmitriy, ~I'd say he'd have to hitch a ride on me if I were with a Trainer.~ she pranced in place for a moment; utterly amused, before her eyes danced with curiosity, ~What's a 'Poke'ball', exactly?~ her mother hadn't told her much about them before... Well, her mother hadn't had the chance to fully explain what Poke'balls were and what Trainers were. May as well take the chance now, while she had it. Friends were so hard to make around here, after all.

Dmitriy grumbled something, but it was impossible to decode into actual words. Instead, he chose to listen to the conversation the pokemon were having.
<Pokeball is where the trainers keep their pokemon when they aren't walking with them. I don't stay in one, but they're aren't really uncomfortable, I just enjoy riding on Dmitriy's back. Walnut isn't in one because he's not technically one of Dmitriy's pokemon. Each pokemon, when captured by a trainer, has a pokeball that goes with it and if they're hurt or something can be returned to.> Bane said, thinking if there was anything else to add.

Walnut chuckled, patting Dmitriy's leg in what he hoped passed for comfort. Such an odd bunch, they all were. Karma blinked, ~That sounds... Pretty horrible.~ Being a horse, she liked her freedom; and if someone tried to take from her she would be mighty upset. But, if it was of an 'in case of an emergency'... ~But, I guess. It's okay. In some respect~ she added, looking concerned. ~I don't know if I like the sound of that.~ tilting her head, she looked at the tall creature again, and then back to Bane, ~What do you guys do all day?~

Dmitriy spoke up quickly, feeling like his hope of catching her was dwindling away. <Well actually they might be really comforta->
Bane sent him a look and he shut up quickly, looking defeated. His pokemon rolled her eyes and turned back to Karma, continuing, <Yeah, I agree. Which is why I'm walking around instead of being in one. And for the most part we travel towards cities to recharge and buy items. On the way we meet other pokemon. Some are nice, who we talk to, but others are mean, or competative. So, we battle with them to gain experience so that when we get to the city, we can be trained enough to fight in the gym.>

~Ssh, Bane is fighting in a battle right now.~ Walnut muttered, striking the boy's leg with the back of his hand. ~Pay attention.~ If Karma had been canine, she might've sat down with ears attentive; but instead she leaned her neck out farther, and her eyes gave off a sparkle. The life of an adventure sounded kinda neat. She wasn't sure how she felt about battling for sport; but, if they were mean it wouldn't be much different than out here, would it? But...~What's a "gym"~ So much! So much new appearing in such a short time. It was rather refreshing.

Dmitriy signed and waited impatiently for the verdict. This conversation was boring, and he wished they would hurry up and tell him if she was going to join their team or not.
Bane thought for a second. <We have yet to get to one. The closest one is in Sandwind. Though, from the pokemon lab I came from I met a couple pokemon who've seen them. Apperantly they're big buildings with stadiums for pokemon to compete in battles. The trainers who win against the owners of the Gym will get a badge showing the achievement. So, Dmitriy's training us to compete in the next Gym, so we can get the badge the first time through.>

Karma thought for a moment, thinking long and hard, before the plain and simple statement came. ~Could I watch?~ she was very curious about this lifestyle; about Trainers, and... Gyms. Her ears twitched, she wanted to know what other sorts of things there were out there; and these guys seemed like the best outlet. Let alone the only one she'd ever seen.

Both Bane and Dmitriy looked quit excited. But, Dmitriy's face fell slightly. <Watch, as in travel with us like Walnut, or join the team to train for the gyms?> He asked, before Bane could shush him or interrupt at all.

Karma lifted her head to be more even with Dmitriy's, her eyes cool and clear. ~I don't know if I like you.~ she stated, very simply. She looked down at Bane, ~I do like you, though.~ she assured her slightly small companion, ~I just want to walk with you a bit. To, you know. See.~ she tilted her head to the side, ~And then maybe I could stay with you guys.~ she shifted her hooves nervously, ~Maybe.~
