Unprompted, the Swellow swerved in and out of the incoming rocks. The precision she used to narrowly miss each one came from quite a bit of practice, and her trainer watched soundlessly, arms crossed and face reflecting no hint of surprise at her ability. Regardless of her training, however, she made one wrong slant and clipped her wing against the earthy surface, fumbling quickly to the ground. She flapped her wings once more, just a foot or so off the dirt beneath her, before swooping high and creating an arch.
After a couple of moments, she managed to even out her flight pattern, though she could still feel the pain in her limb. Prepared now, she let out a triumphant caw that her trainer interpreted as readiness for her next move. He let out a smug smirk in reply. "Be more careful next time." he demanded harshly, "Wing attack." She looked at him sharply and he seemed to think better of it. "Peck."
Before the words had fully formed, the bird pokemon swooped dangerously low and charged at the fire type. Her beak glittered dangerously as she increased her speed.

Tak watched with a dreamy smile as the bird Pokemon weaved between his rocks, beautiful... his body tilted forward a little as she moved but then he started in surprise. One of his rocks had hurt her! "Chaaaar.... he certainly hadn't intended that. At least she seemed okay. She was still flying with beauty, and grace... And he smiled dreamily again as she darted along before arching up and flying towards him. Towards him! A Pokemon as beautiful as her took notice of his gift and was coming towards him. He held his little arms out as if to hug her, very happy. It took a moment for it to sink in, even though his body was already responding to the laws of gravity. Ardeo was shouting something, but Tak couldn't hear the words. Whump, the Charmander heard his body hit the ground; and felt it too. But it seemed so far away...
The Blaziken Morph had commanded Tak move out of the attack as soon as the move was issued, but the lizard remained still as that tree-like Pokemon. Sudo... Eh, whatever. Like he had time to think about that! Tak had taken the attack without so much as backing up to lessen the hit. On top of the STAB, and the momentum, the poor thing was down. And he seemed down for the battle. "Tak! Tak!" Ardeo was in motion after the lizard didn't move for nearly 30 seconds; he crouched next to the Fire-type, putting a hand on his partner's back. "Hey, Tak. You okay buddy?" "Chaar.." slowly Tak raised a claw to his aching head. 'He must've taken a critical hit... And he's pretty beat from that Kecleon.' he huffed, "Whatever, you win for now." he looked at the Bulbasaur and frowned. He wasn't really sure how he felt about a kid like that taking this Bulbasaur. He could challenge the boy again (or wait to be challenged again) - but his Pokemon were, for the most part, pretty beat. Tough spot. He reached to absently pet the Bulbasaur while giving his fainted Charmander a sideways look. What to do, what to do.

Andy smirked but said nothing until his pokemon was safely at his side. The bird pokemon soared high into the air after her attack, doing a little spin before dipping low once more. She paushed in a hover over her trainer's shoulder, sending the Charmander a reproachful look. As if she could possibly have any attraction to something that weak. What a silly notion it was, indeed.
The Bulbasaur watched for a moment, unsure what to do. He took a step or two in Ardeo's direction before footsteps approaching him made him stop. He glanced over at the smaller trainer, who hovered over him now, looking pleased. The bird pokemon at his shoulder looked prepared to pounce any minute. Or whatever it was that birds did.
Of course, to him, this trainer had simply attacked his friend for no reasons and was moving onto him. "Stop." He demanded, though he was well aware that humans could never understand what pokemon said. It was worth the effort, however. With the word came two dark green tendrils from his sides, whipping warning in the trainer's direction. This rewarded him with a scowl before the bird pokemon was on him.
He ducked as she swooped over him, her beak glittering dangerously. He lumbered in the direction of the nearest bush in hope of refuge from the attack

Growling, "Round one was yours, but I'm ready to dish out round two!" Ardeo reached for one of the Poke'balls at his waist and tossed it between the retreating dinosaur and the bird. "Thunder Bolt" he ordered, eyes narrowed with rage. Though it really didn't take much to push his buttons; but when the dinosaur tried to defend him from the other trainer... Ardeo would not give up on such a noble soul so easily. Emerging from the capsule was a small blue lion with a gold star shape on his forhead. Why Ardeo didn't just use him to begin with was a mystery; but this was Ardeo after all. Who knew how that brain worked. Roaring, the Shields crackled with electricity before he shot it at the Swellow; hoping to intercept the dangerous beak before it reached the Grass-type.

The bird pokemon made no attempt to avoid the attack, clearly not expecting to be hit by anything that wasn't useless leaves or vines. There was a roaring sound around her and suddenly the attack collided with her back, instantly bringing her altitude down to practically nothing. Once the accompanying surge of electricity rushed through her however, she was instantly falling the rest of the way to the ground.
Even if the pokemon wasn't completely fainted, she was paralyzed. Andy could tell the moment the attack dissipated and the bird pokemon was left- wings outstretched- on the ground. She didn't move, even as he called orders for her to get herself together, and it wasn't long before he was rounding on Ardeo.
"That wasn't fair!" He snapped, hands immediately finding another pokeball from around his waist. Not even bothering to call the spent flying-type back to her ball, he released the only other pokemon he owned, his eyes narrowing at his challenger.
The Persian lunged out of the red light, padding a few steps before shaking himself and sitting promptly on his haunches. There was a moment of silence as he glanced around at the scene, making sure all parties involved could read the severe lack of interest in his expression when he was done. At least, he hoped it came off right. Humans were dense when it came to pokemon body language.
The pause dragged on for another few seconds, Andy's expression falling to one of complete confusion. God he /hated/ sending out this pokemon. About as much as he was sure the pokemon /hated/ being sent out. It was a mutual distaste on both their parts, and when the Persian glanced back at him, he felt the blood rush to his cheeks.
"Well?" He asked when the pokemon stared at him, "Go..." His mind blanked on moves. What on earth did Persian's /do/? Nothing, apparently. If they were all like /this/ stupid thing. His face flushed a darker red in embarrassment, his eyes frantically searching the pokemon for the answers. Claws. Persians had claws.
"Scratch!" He said triumphantly, hoping to God the pokemon actually listened. There was a breath of relief when the cat got up, but it was short-lived and caught in his throat when their gaze didn't break. For a brief moment, he seriously expected the attack to be aimed at him. Then, the feline broke eye-contact, allowing Andy to finish his breath as sharpened talons were redirected at Ardeo's newly released Shinx.

Ardeo smirked, "If we were fighting fair, then someone in this forest would have stuck to normal attacks and not used Attract. Not to name names or anything." the Morph looked at the newly released Persian with a look of disdain. It was something that carried over from his genes, being a bird-like Pokemon a creature like a Perisan filled him with distaste. And he was even less amused at the lack of interest the great cat was giving the battle. ...But then it actually rounded on Shields. The small lion bared his fangs at the taller feline, tail swishing back and forth. He could just tell the Persian had half written him off from this battle because of his size. "Charge!" the Shinx's ears twitched at the command, and he was instantly surrounded by a large amount of static electricity that he pulled from the air, himself and his opponent. Shields smirked; this move would not only make his next electrical attack more powerful, but for the moment his defense was being raised as well. Which was all the better, he wanted his foe to get in close to get a nice taste of what it's feather comrade had tasted.

Watching the battle unfold gave Andy enough time to remember his other pokemon's moves. "Bite!" He ordered, grinning as the cat pokemon circled his challenger. The Persian's tail twitched at the command, his ears going back as he considered if that's what he /really/ wanted to do.
No. It wasn't. He decided wrapping his mouth around an electric type was probably the last thing he wanted to do. With a soft growl, he pounced forward, nails glittering once more as he dove forward, slashing once more. He darted to the side immediately after, not even knowing if it hit before slashing again. He made four attempts at Fury Swipes before cowering back, tail swishing to the side violently.

Ardeo watched at the Persian ignored it's orders. "...Real nice." he muttered, rolling his eyes. Shields, for his part, stayed hunkered down - electricity still arcing across his body. He was ready, and looked over his shoulder to communicate that to Ardeo. The Fury Swipes had scored hits, but the little blue lion was still feeling fine and fancy-free. Nodding, the Blaziken Morph let out a smile, "Alright buddy, let it loose!" At that Shields gave a grin, stood up and locked eyes with his target. The electricity stilled across his fur for a moment, before gathering again and shooting forward towards his foe.

Andy wasn't sure what to do. If his Persian didn't listen to his orders, why would he waste his time embarrassing himself? He could hardly look at Ardeo at this point, feeling ashamed at his own inability to properly train the stupid thing. Even though he could predict the Shinx's move enough to give orders to avoid it, he yelled nothing.
As expected, there was direct contact. The Persian felt the electricity rush through, making his fur stand on end. He hissed sharply and stumbled back, managing to keep on his legs despite the tingling that continued to course through him. Through narrowed eyes, he opened his mouth and let out a Screech that made his trainer wince.

It was about the moment the opposing Trainer looked abashed that Ardeo suddenly remembered that Shields was amazingly close to evolving. He gripped his fists, this battle might be it! "Let's give this everything we have, Shields. This could be the battle!" the little lion looked over his shoulder as the Screech washed over him, he felt his legs weaken for a moment before he stood tall and proud, smiling like a predator with prey in sight. Ardeo was right; after taking out that Swellow, taking down this Persian could very well be the battle where he evolved into a Luxio. "Hnnnnnngh" The Blaziken morph almost dropped to his knee at the force of the Screech, and he glared through gritted teeth. "Try'n get'm with a Bite!" Nodding, the little blue monster shot forward, fangs bared at the evolved Pokemon.

Evolve? The Persian blinked, noting the suddenly determined expression that crossed the Shinx's expression. Great. Just /great/. Not only would he lose, but he'd get to watch the other become stronger as a result of it. With new found determination of his own, he tensed, still preparing himself for the attack. His yellow eyes narrowed to slits and he lowered himself, the hair rising on his back in anticipation. Once the other pokemon started at him, teeth bared, he leaped to the side, twisting to avoid the attack and reaching around to attempt his own Bite.

As soon as the jaws of the larger feline connected with his skin, Shields twisted in the grip and scrabbled to re-land his original Bite; determined to get a hold and keep it. He was going to evolve, to help protect everyone he cared about. Especially his sister.

The Persian yowled when teeth pierced his hide, immediately dropping his victim and veering away in one swift movement. The momentary escape lasted only half a second before he was offering another attack, rising up on his back legs, paws glittering as he dealt another Scratch.

As fur was pulled from his mouth, the Shinx hissed in triumph at the discomfort of the larger feline. Shields' eyes narrowed as he rolled to his back to present himself as a smaller and lower target and, on reflex, retaliated with his own Thunderbolt attack. Which Ardeo was about to tell him to do, but closed his mouth promptly. His little thunder cat as a step ahead of him so far; and he wasn't going to risk distracting his friend with the need to be 'commanding' or 'in charge'.

The attack surged through him, making all the hairs on his body stand on end. He let out an angry yowl and fell back in an attempt to escape from the electricity. With his tail between his legs, he backed away, letting out another Screech and glancing over at his trainer. Why did he always win with that damn /bird/, but never with him?
Andy took this as a plead for help, quickly accepting the challenge and throwing out the order, "Fury Swipes!" This time, the cat pokemon didn't hesitate before charging forward offering his claws in five frantic scratches.
