The Kecleon realized what attack was coming, and accepted his inability to get out of the way in time. Instead he shifted so his shoulder recieved the blunt of the blow. He twisted instantly, however, and countered with his own Scratch, moving his whole body with it to try and raise the impact.
<You aren't going to win this!> He snapped, breathing heavily. This was taking a toll on him, and he was tiring. But there was no way he'd let this trainer beat him after all the talk he had before.

Tak growled, he was hurting now. And badly. That Scratch left a raw, red, mark down his side and it ached already. He was going to ride on Ardeo's back until they got to the next town. Or forever. But he thought of Bane, and he thought of her surpassing him, and gritted his teeth. ~Rrggh, no!~ he didn't really mean it towards the Kecleon; more like he was talking to himself. He wanted to be a Charmeleon by the time he saw her next - and he wasn't going to let this stupid green lizard not let him gain experience points. He opened his maw and set forth an unbidden shower of Embers; his flames bright with his momentary anger. Ardeo blinked, impressed. And then he smiled - going on the offensive was his greatest trait.

The burn scalded his front, and he was late shielding his face. The burn caused him to take uneven steps backwards until he fell into the dirt below him. He held his hands to his face, and didn't remove them until a couple seconds, glaring at the Charmander.
He was slow getting up, eyes narrowed as he watched the other pokemon. Without making a move forward, he opened his mouth and emitted a screaming pitch. He needed a move he didn't have to work for.. Astonish.

Tak flinched backwards from his momentary victory, why couldn't the lizard have just given up? Annoying... his claws clapped over his head as his mind swam. But he couldn't find it in himself to move. Ardeo frowned, and for once felt something in his brain start to whir. If only he had a voice of reason to push the thoughts further.... Instead he glared at the Kecleon; waiting for his next move.

Still, the pokemon couldn't find the energy to move himself forward for one of his physical attacks. Instead, his eyes turned a bright white, and an endless supply of hypnotic colors flew out of them. He gave the move some time before blinking away the whiteness and the spirals stopped.

As soon as the ray made contact, Tak felt his legs shake, weaken, and then finally crumble. He laid on the ground, one eye closed dramatically. He opened his mouth to shoot out an Ember attack, but all that come out was a small puff of smoke. He was tapped. "Augh, alright. You win." Ardeo hopped up towards Tak, scooping him into his arms and fixing the Kecleon with a wry grin. "I guess your not all talk after all." he puffed out his chest, but at least the Kecleon hadn't totally owned Tak.

The Kecleon did his best to continue looking formidable, though his exaustion was evident by the way his arms hung like weights to his sides and his knees bent, almost inwardly. His tail was loose and almost seemed like it wanted to lay out flat in defeat. <Of course I'm not all talk, I knew I could beat you.> He said, a smug expression managing to stay intact on his face despite other weaknesses, <I make it a habit to challenge trainers who come by here. You were one of the best though, for sure, and you don't get compliments like that from me often, gotta tell ya..>

Ardeo nodded, putting Tak carefully back on the ground and digging in his backpack for a Potion, "Oh, that's pretty neat." finding the little purple thing, he let out a little, 'Hah!' and sprayed Tak on the head and body, "Must get a little boring, waiting for Trainers to come through here." Tak stood up slowly, shaking his head, ~Oouch.~ he mumbled, rubbing his head. He cast the Kecleon a withering glance, ~If I had more moves...~ he huffed, turning to see Ardeo shoulder the pack and climbing up his leg to rest on it, "I could go for another round, but you look pretty tired. You beat us; but you didn't "mangle" us." he added a little laugh to that, and then grinned widely. "So, Tak. Feeling more powerful?" ~Feeling mighty tired.~ was all the striped lizard mumbled.

Kecleon gained one level! Tak gained one level!
The Kecleon laughed. <Yeah it's boring!> He huffed, <The pokemon around here are never any good to battle. And don't assume I can't keep going either, punk. I could knock out another pokemon still.> He crossed his arms, looking up at the trainer with straight eyes it was hard to detect if he was bluffing or not. Though his beaten apperance made the cocky attitude seem almost funny coming from him. <And just 'cause it's boring doesn't mean I want to go with you.>

Ardeo fixed the Kecleon with a smug expression, "Are you sure you wanna go for another round? I know your weakness now." he grinned, the kind of infuriating grin that said he did know something. Tak yawned; as long as it wasn't him again... The one Fury Swipe along his side still throbbed a little. I hope I get to fight a Grass-type soon... At least he was getting closer. Few more levels... Then I'll show Bane!

The lizard stood up taller and puffed his chest out cockily. <I doubt you know my weakness, trainer.> He replied, <You seemed to be failing miserably during battle when it came to finding it. I have no doubt you will make the same mistakes again!> He widened his stance, taking a few steps back to prepare for any pokemon Ardeo might decide to call out. His eyes were focused, and he hoped he could keep this up. The blow to his pride if he lost would be a painful one.

Ardeo frowned, that was a conundrum; how the lizard was able to block fire moves... But that didn't matter. Not with this plan. "Oh, maybe I don't know all your weaknesses; but I did find a vital one." he grinned, taking a Poke'ball from his belt and tossing it out, releasing a small stone. "Teken, get ready to rock." A purple swirl shot out of the top, forming an odd round creature with a creepy smile and a crazy eye. It cackled, whirling, and then shot out a swirling Confuse Ray towards his foe. 'Damnit, he never waits for me...' Ardeo frowned, but. It was off to a good start.

Despite his earlier preparation, the Kecleon was not prepared for the attack. The result scrambled his brain into thinking nonsense. He leaped towards where he thought the Spiritomb was, but managed only to run himself into a large rock. His feet tangled in the branches below him, and he stopped to focus on his attacker.
When he thought he located the enemy's position, he ran towards it preparing a Lick attack. He tried to put in as much speed as possible, but he kept tripping and swaying it was hard for him to continue in the right direction.

Teken could only laugh as he watched the green thing stumble about, crash into a rock and then stumble somemore. His insane cackling only continued as he slid away from the sad attack and, with a wild grin, winked out of existence. And when he re-appeared, he slammed into the Kecleon with Faint Attack, one eye spinning like a top. Ardeo grinned, he felt confident that Teken had this. He had the power, and his move would never miss. Plus the Kecleon was Confused and weakened from Tak.

The Kecleon could do nothing to avoid the attack, and it sent him back. His eyes cleared a little bit only to blur again with the risk of passing out. He got to his feet shakily, and took a step forward. He looked around at the trainer and pokemon, before turing right back around and attempting to hobble away. It didn't work and his legs caught on branches leaving him sprawled across the ground, slipping in and out of focus.
