Ardeo blinked, he'd been expecting something more... intimidating. "Heh, alright. Let's go Tak!" ~I, uh... Buh...~ "C'mon, Tak. Think of Bane. We gotta get stronger!" the Blaziken grinned, glaring at the Kecleon with determination. "Let's do it! Ember!" "Ch-Char!" stepping up the Charmander hesitantly shot out a volley of little balls of fire. He really did want to impress Bane...

The lizard pokemon dodged some of the balls of fire, being struck by the last one however and falling back. His ability started working, and he could feel the fire type attack change his overall defense. Once the new type took over, he seemed to regain himself and got up to blast a Psybeam at the opponent.

Ardeo grinned, awesome. This was going pretty well. "Keep it up, buddy!" Tak was feeling a little more confident, and blinked in confusion as he saw a swirl of purply-pink light fly at him. ~Hey, what's-~ before he could finish, the attack slammed into him and he was bowled over. ~Oooow...~ He got up, shaking off the dirt, and glaring at the odd green thing. He sent another salvo of Embers, feet planted more firmly in the ground with his anger.

The opponent backed away from the fire, but kept himself upright. He took a few steps forward when he felt it slowing, arms still shielding his face as he came forward. It was clearly much less effective. As the attack slowed to a stop, he rushed forward, claws glittering as he raised them high, slicing forward with angry force as he used Fury Swipes.

Both Charmander and Blaziken froze in a moment of shock, "What?" the lizard thing was acting like it was another Charmander being hit with flames. ~Ardeo?~ the little lizard took a step back, but Fury Swiped were already on him, and in desparation the orange lizard raised his arms to his face, but most of the swipes struck, causing him to stumble back in shock. ~Wha...What...?~ "Grrr...Smokescreen!" blinking for a moment, Tak nodded and opened his maw, letting out a billow of smoke to obscure his enemies' vision.

The pokemon covered his fact with his little hands, flapping them about to try and disturb the foggy air around him. He couldn't see anything, and he struggled about for a moment before it started to clear up. His eyes were watering, but as soon as he noticed the sillhouette of the charmander he charged forward again, tongue lolling out crazily as he tried to Lick his opponent.

Grinning at the lizard's attempt, Tak skidded out of the way. Smokescreen wasn't such a total waste of his movepool afterall, he supposed. "Yeah, that's it. Now give'm a Scratch!" the Blaziken figured the Scratch would be more efftective close-range than another Ember. Which the lizard seemed to be getting steadily more repellant against. ~Gotcha!~ the orange reptile raised his claw in an attempt to counter the Kecleon's Lick with a downward slashing movement.

The pokemon fell back as the move made contact, clearly hurt. It took him a second to pass the pain, getting back up once again. His ability took effect, and he took another attempt at attacking the Charmander. He came forward again, tongue lolling out as he tried for another Lick attack. He knew the pokemon would probably use his previous attack if he remained close, and worked to help bait that.

Ardeo gritted his teeth, if that Lick did what he assumed to the Kecleon was hoping for; their hopes for an easy victory were gone. Tak visibly shuddered, and stood up on one leg as the Lick caught him on the side of the face and the, gross, wet tongue slid up before returning to the other reptile's mouth. "Ch-chaaar..." Tak shuddered, before replacing his foot back on the ground. Shoot. "Ember!" Maybe at this range it'll be more effective... Wincing with effort, Tak let loose a barrage of fireballs; hoping the same as his Trainer. That the strange immunity would be foregone in the face of close range combat. But mostly they were just relying on STAB.

The Kecleon was caught full in the face with this one, and he reeled back quickly, hands and arms shielding himself protectively. He glowered daggers at the Charmander, shaking himself after the attack and changing his overall defense once more. He bounded forward, claws raised again as he launched a series of Fury Swipes at the fire type. He knew his health was steadily becoming critical, but his determination to win the battle kept him going after the opponent.

'Damn' Tak would have tried to avoid at least some of the Swipes, but he was Paralyzed to the spot. "Give'm a Scratch while he's close!" Maybe if he used more physical moves, it would keep him limber and less prone to freezing up. 'We should just stick to using Scratch, Ember is broken or something...' shaking his head, Ardeo watched the Kecleon carefully. Trying to figure him out. Tak, for his part, had his eyes narrowed in anger. Getting Licked. Was gross. ~Hiyaaah!~ he countered the Fury Swipes with his own Scratch attack, hoping to keep the green reptile in close range combat like Ardeo seemed to want.

Leaping out of the attack's path, and rolling briefly, the Kecleon managed to avoid being hit this time. It wasn't long before he had jumped back on two feet and aimed another attack at the Charmander. He dove forward once again with Fury Swipes, hoping this time would do as much damage as the previous. His eyes were narrowed in focus as he raised his arm and sliced down plenty of times at the trainer's pokemon.

If the Kecleon hadn't of challenged him and Tak outright, Ardeo would have switched to Teken right then and there. Tak's shallow movepool was making this really difficult. "Arrgh..." clenching his fist, Ardeo thought fast. "Alright, no matter how strange this creature is; we have no choice. Use Ember!" Maybe we can Burn him or something. Tak threw his claws up over his face, he didn't want to move too much, in fear of Paralysis, so he let the moves shower across his exposed face and arms; growling to himself. Deciding to be a little more creative, Tak swung his tail at his enemy; aiming to clobber his foe either with his tail - or shower him in embers directly from his own external flame.

Being blasted by the Embers did hardly any damage, once again, and he was pleased by the lack of knowledge about his special ability from these two. He ran towards the Charmander before the attack was even over, causing more damage to himself but adding to the surprise when he disappeared in the flames, and reappeared quickly with a Faint Attack.

"Ah, there. Quick! Scratch!" Tak growled in surprise, but having eyes outside the direct battle was useful. He slid back a little, and winced at the pain. He wasn't going to last if this lizard kept somehow blocking the damage to his fire attacks... But, pushing the thought away, Tak pushed off the ground and prepared to deliver a Scratch to his enemy.
