Ardeo walked along the Forest of Ghosts, not feeling slightly scared, but feeling really tired. Tak, who was laying atop the Blaziken's backpack, had adamantly refused to stay at Tarro Town's Pokemon Center - so he and the crew moved on. The Fire-Morph let out a yawn, looking down to his heels were a blue Poochyena trotted, ears up and alert - a Reaper Cloth was wrapped around his neck like a scarf. "Aaaagh, so sleeeepy." the Morph muttered, to everyone and no one. Hokuro, the 'Yena, looked up at him for a moment, before he looked back. ~We should have stayed a Tarro.~ he woofed, voice bland. Tak turned to look down, horrified at the suggestion. ~N-no way. We've been doing nothing but stay at Haunted places. I'm tired of it!~ the Charmander complained, clinging to the pack tighter. "I'm just tired." their Trainer responded, trudging along...

Behind them a threatening hiss broke the quiet, followed closely by a squeal. There was a twittering, and the sound of leaves thrashing. An ekans was coiled tightly around a raticate, not letting go. The thrashing of the small pokemon in its clutches was weakening clearly, but it was still kicking. Up ahead a spinarak worked busily on her web, humming and clearly not caring about the murderous scene going on feet from her home.

"Holy crap!" Ardeo perked up instantly, "Look! An Ekans!" he rushed over toward them, standing a few feet away from the snake and the thrashing Raticate. "Look how much they like eachother, oh - true love." Tak looked down at Hokuro with a wide-eyed expression. ~He does need sleep...~ the Charmander muttered, as the blue Poochyena rushed the Ekans fangs bared in a Bite attack; he was going to scoop up some Exp. And maybe save some ungrateful rat.

The bite caught the skin of the coiled snake pokemon, who let out a cry in pain, letting his grip on the pokemon go. He lashed out at the poocheyna, hissing menacingly while the raticate layed on the ground under it, not moving much, but breathing. A large gaping bite mark could be seen around its left leg. It obviously would not be moving away from the scene any time soon.

"Huh, oh, look. The Raticate is hurt." Ardeo knelt down, Tak clinging to his back while the movement was made. "Hey little fella..." Hokuro backed off, growling at the Ekans, sizing up his foe now that it was mobile. His hackles raised, shining blue eyes locked on his foe. ~Come and get me, coward.~ he taunted, ears swinging back.

"HEY! I was just mindin' my own business and that darned ekans had to leap on me. I had 'em too, but he cheated and nicked my leg and it all came down from there. Why if I had a workin' leg I'da kicked him all the way back to that haunted house. Why I otta' just get up right now and chomp the end of his tail off, or scrape a few of his ugly little scales off..." The raticate was still going on, but it was hard to tell what he was saying. For a rat that just had a near-death experience, he had a lot to say.
The ekans didn't say anything, just sent another lunge down at the small dog, a sharp hiss coming through as he opened his jaw wide for the bite.

"Oooh?" Ardeo said with a nod, barely able to keep up with the rat as he speeled off about the Ekans. He was too tired to really follow like he might normally be able to. He let out a yawn, and looked back to Tak, "We gotta Potion, left, right?" ~What?~ the lizard blinked, ~Uh, yea.~ Ardeo stared a moment more, "Give it." he looked back to the Raticate, "I can help ya, if you want." he stated, eyes half-closed. He wasn't quite the picture of sincerity at that moment.
Hokuro attempted a dodge-counter. He leapt to the side, landing on his back feet he pushed off in a side-lunge; hoping to avoid the attack of the Ekans and deal a blow of his own. "Rrryena!"

<A potion? Well, give it here. Hurry hurry. My leg aint gonna heal itself. While yer at it, mind giving me something to eat? I'm starvin' here..> The rat said a thing or two about getting back into the battle, but seemed to forget he was talking as he waited for the potion.
The ekans hissed again, obviously annoyed. The dog was much too fast, and he was not in the mood. Still not saying anything, the reptile dove under the ground, not resurfacing.

Tak handed the Potion to his Trainer, who carefully sprayed the wound. "There ya go. Food? I think I got an apple left. Tak, would you check, please?" the Morph half-turned to the Charmander, who rifled through the pack. ~Yep, one left. Kinda squished...~ the Fire-type said, as he hopped down and handed the Raticate the Apple himself. ~Feelin' any better?~
Hokuro howled, causing both Ardeo and Tak to jump (and Arde woke up a little more), as the Ekans slid under the earth and did not reappear. ~Coward!~ he growled into the hole, ~A curse on all you Ekans!~ he yelled this to the forest, before trotting sullenly back to his Trainer and packmate - a sour look on his face.

<Thank you, son.> He said to the charmander, smiling, <It's good to see some nice young people about in this here forest. Awful nice indeed.> The raticate was quiet for once since he had met the trainer and his pokemon.
There was no sound from the hole to say the snake was still there. It was probably already far off away- trying to capture some other unfortunate meal. Though, if it was there, it would have probably been laughing at the annoyance of the poocheyna. However, it was only fair that something that was there could enjoy a laugh at the little dog's misfortune. Above them all, a gligar was laughing. It was a very un-ladylike laughter, which one could find amusing since the pokemon was indeed a female. The gligar stopped laughing after a very long time, fading away to random chuckles. <You're a funny one.> She finally said, her voice very high pitched and squeaky.

"Oh! Right, I'm Ardeo. And, this is my partner - Takerl." he pointed to the Charmander. "Hokuro is my Poochyena friend over there." he looked over his shoulder, smiling. "It's nice to see a Pokemon that doesn't want to kill me." he sighed, at least half of his Pokemon were gained from near-death experiences or just had nasty temperments.
Hokuro cocked his head up at the Gligar, ~Oh, yea?~ he barked, ears falling back at the sound of her voice. He then proceeded to ignore her. He had enough of the nasty Pokemon here.

<You're in the wrong place to be lookin' fer pokemon who don't wanna kill you. I was just trying to get somewhere a little safer, but I'm actually a bit lost, and I don't really know anywhere near here that's not scary. I wouldn't suppose you could take a new member on your team and do the walkin'? I would enjoy the peace of being in one of those contraptions until we ended up somewhere safe, I tell ya.> He wasn't being very obscure in his request. Obviously being polite was a little out of his reach.

"I figured...I couldn't be called 'Happy sunshine smiles and rainbows' forest..." the Morph muttered, then blinked. "Well, if you'd like to tag along I have no problem with it. Tak? Hokuro?" Tak smiled, ~No problems here!~ the Lizard stated with a smile, hopping back onto Ardeo's pack. Hokuro snorted. ~Follow if you wish, rat.~ then flicked his tail, ready to move on.

The raticate frowned, his leg still hurt him. After all, it HAD been nearly eaten by a snake. He stood up, however, plump stomach taking up most of the weight in front of him, allowing him to balance while leaning back a bit.
The gligar above them didn't say anything more. Probably sleeping. In front of them was that spinarak, also sleeping in the center of her nest. Nothing much else caught the eye unless one were the investigate the many fallen hollow logs about.

"Right then, sir Raticate. Tak. Hokuro, let's go!" he stood up again, yawned, shouldered his pack (and his lizard pal) and marching off. A sort of diagonal, really tired, march - but a march nonetheless. Hokuro trotted after, at the wobbly heals of his Trainer. His eyes were dark with irritation, the Pokemon in this forest...Cowards.
