Up ahead wailing and loud comments could be heard and upon closer inspection, two squirtles and a wartortle were in a tight huddle, yelling about something and pointing ahead. With one eye closed and the other squinted, one could see a caterpie, staring at them strangely. <OH! IT'S SO UGLY!> One yelled, pointing. She was obviously uncaring if the bug pokemon heard her comment. <What on EARTH is that?!> The other squirtle agreed, blinking his eyes as if that would change the caterpie's appearance. <That's one ugly squirtle. And I thought I had it bad when I woke up looking like this!> The wartortle snapped, exasperated and glancing down at himself. The caterpie seemed oblivious to it all, or just completely dumbfounded and caught off guard.

Ardeo blinked at the gathering of Water-types (Shuddering, inwardly.) and stared at the object to 'torture'. "Hm?" his mind was clouded with the need for sleep, but still all he saw was a Caterpie. "Cute, little buggie." he muttered, eyes half-closed. Bugs either loved, or hated him. Like they could sometimes see the flame inside him- and they yearned to be near it or they feared the uncontrollable power. Tak blinked slowly, staring at his 'rival' starters with half-lidded green eyes. "Chaaar." he wanted to do something, but he was so comfortable...Until a sharp Wrof! interrupted his trance, and almost made him tumble off his Trainer's back. Hokuro's eyes narrowed, as his hackles raised and he marched up to the Squirtles and single Wartortle. He had been looking for a fight- and this one had a good cause behind it. ~Hey!~ he barked, baring fangs, ~Back off, leave the little thing alone.~ he already knew it was not what one of those shelled things were; but he didn't know what else to exactly call it, either...

The wailing and mutterings came to a sudden stop as each of the pokemon, in turn, faced backwards to look at the discolored poocheyna. Silence followed as if they were trying to decide what to do. <Ohh...> One started, not quite sure what to say. <It's.. it's..> <SO UGLY!> They cried out in complete dismay as if seeing something as dreadful as the dog pokemon in front of them was the worst that could happen. Sucking in all his breath, the wartortle stepped forward bravely. <Where is your tribe? How have you managed to not be banished when you look that way?>

Everyone blinked in surprise, but Hokuro was the one who recovered. Fur bristling, he growled, ~My pack is right here.~ Ardeo waved sleepily, while Tak huddled a little out of view- only the tip of his burning tail in view. Squirtle were his worst enemy. Ardeo let out a yawn, before stumbling forward a little bit more and smiling to the three odd Water-types. "I would never banish my friends." he mumbled, cracking his wrist. "That seems kinda rude, you know?"

The three pokemon seemed at a loss for wards, glancing back and fourth between one another, then back up in unison at the strange pairing before them. One coughed awkwardly, <We banish the 'others' because of their apperance. We cannot have squirtle mixed breeds in our tribe. That would be a catastrophy.> <Yes.. A catastrophy!> <A catastrophy indeed!>

Ardeo blinked, "Well, that's...Interesting." he remarked, mind too tired to come up with anything better than that. ~It's silly!~ Tak squeaked, peering over his Trainer's shoulder again, slightly more bold with the weight of his opinion. ~I love my friends, and they're not all Charmander, nor are they all the same.~ he sounded miffed, and Hakuro (for once) found himself agreeing with the small lizard. ~Friends stick together. Always. A Pack is an unbreakable unit.~ he barked.

<Charmander? What is this you speak of?> The wartortle said, clearly confused. He edged out of the bunch again, taking the roll of the leader once more while the other two stood behind. They peered at the strange lizard pokemon for a while, shaking their heads disapprovingly. <Just because you look weird doesn't mean you can make your own species. Deformed Squirtles often try to say others are like them, but I don't believe any of it.> <Yeah! Remember? What was it again? Totodile?!> <Yeah! Yeah! Totodile! How dumb is that?!> They laughed loudly, obviously finding this very funny.
The caterpie was busy nibbling on a cherry, not caring about the scene anymore.

All three of them blinked, "Squirtle aren't the only Types of Pokemon in the world..." the sleepy Blaziken remarked, yawning, "I'm a Blaziken." ~Poochyena.~ ~Charmander!~ the lizard huffed, clearly forgetting about the type advantage they would have and crawled down. ~Do I look like a shelled freak?~ he waved his flaming tail around, ~That's not a mutation!~ "And there are others...Aah...Magby...Spiritomb...The like." Ardeo murmured, wanting more than anything, "Oh, and our buddy Raticate here." he suddenly said, perking up at the thought of the oddly silent rodent Pokemon.

The "oddly silent rodent" was passed out against a tree, hand on very large stomach and surrounded in bits and pieces of different berries. Clearly satisfied.
<It looks like a mutation. Besides, why should we believe you?! The Chief told us that there would be pokemon in our way trying to convince us of such lies.> <Yeah. But you guys really shouldn't be lying about this sort of thing anyways. I mean, we're hanging around him.> the female squirtle stated, guesturing towards the wartortle, <OBVIOUSLY we're slightly used to.. different.. pokemon.>

"We're not just different." Ardeo yawned, stretching, "We command different Elements." he commented, locking one of them with his dimmed golden eyes. ~Yeah, I'd like to see you breathe fire!~ Tak growled, inclining his reptile body forward to emphasize his anger. Hokuro snorted, he was clearly not of the reptile phylum. How could they think he was a mutation of them?

The wartortle didn't know what to say to that, but then wondered why he couldn't. <What makes you say I can't?> He snapped, clearly annoyed, <It can't possibly be that hard!> And with that he puffed out his chest and sprayed a very large watergun at all the pokemon in front of him. <...Oops..>

The water sprayed into the- very surprised- Charmander, and nearly knocked him out from the sheer force. And, the fact he hadn't even been able to brace himself. ~H-hey!~ ~Is that a challenge!?~ Hokuro growled, angered but sounding hopeful. He'd been looking for a fight this whole time, and perhaps one had been placed before him at the misfire. "That was kinda rude." Ardeo murmured, his eyes getting a little sharper after the cry of pain from his very first partner. He knealt down to pick up the lizard, and gave each turtle a bit of 'Bird-of-Prey' stare.

<Sorry..> He grumbled, feeling very embarrassed. When the dog pokemon barked at him, he shook his head glumly, <I don't want to hurt any more of you> He said, sending the charmander a very apologetic look. He obviously felt fighting the poocheyna would end in pain for the other pokemon, not himself.

Takoro clung to Ardeo, and glared at the larger of the turtle-like Pokemon; Ardeo repeating the gesture. He opened his mouth to reply, but instead a harsh growl and rush of blue fur as Hokuro charged the Wartortle- trying to pin him. ~I am not weak~ emerald eyes narrowed to bare slits, his fangs bared. ~I challenge you~ his howled, hackles raised.

As he was pinned to the ground, the wartortle's blue eyes narrowed as well, rage building up inside of him. He didn't even bother with an actual attack as he brought his arm back and aimed a punch at the poocheyna's face that was hovering ever so close to his own. As soon as he figured the punch should have made contact, he entered his shell, not even bothering to get out from under the dog pokemon. The Withdraw attack sent a wave of glittery blue around his protective shell multiple times, adding to his defense.
From behind him, the other two squirtles exchanged glances but said nothing, just watched wide-eyed. They never had to fight in their tribe. Not far behind them, the caterpie was nowhere to be seen, but the bug pokemon was small and rather clueless, so probably wasn't far off, ignoring the scene.
