The trail had finally ended off into a huge meadow that lay spread out before them. Tall grass in some area, shorter grass in others. He could practically feel life teeming from the area. Despite being accused multiple times in his life of seeing the bad in everything, there really was only beauty to be seen here. He'd always had a thing for nature. He found a stump and took that as an invitation to sit, planting his butt on it and pocketing his pokedex.
<Finally!> It was from Bane. It was a breath of exasperation and thankfulness. <I was getting tired of hearing every single useless fact about Luxios that thing could provide.>
"What?" he asked innocently, "I think it was very useful. Now you know not to let them scratch you. Or to never challenge them in a group. And in two levels, mine will know Bite. Which is a Dark move. Not normal. I know you thought it was normal."
<"Can I learn Bite?>" Now it was Bane's turn to be jealous. Ever since he'd caught that Luxio, Dmitriy was obsessed with learning more about it. She was surprised when the human shook his head and answered with, "You'll never be able to learn it. Not less your dad was an Arbok or something. I think that's how it works. Or maybe if your mom was..." He trailed off thoughtfully.
"Well anyways!" He clapped his hands, interrupting his own thought when he realized he wasn't sure what he was talking about anymore, "Let's hang out here for a bit. It's pretty and I have grass types who would probably enjoy life in a place like this." As he said it, he released Kiz and Thea. The Budew looked instantly pleased with her surroundings. Thea still appeared tired from the last battle. He no longer had anything to heal her with, so he was thankful he had called her back before she'd completely knocked out. She did seem to lighten up considerably when she focused more on where she was rather than her body's aches.
Once he felt settled, he glanced over at the uncaught companions he still had with him. "Walnut and... Karma" That name still made him feel creeped, "Have you guys ever been here?"

Walnut was impressed with how Dmitriy was their short walk over to the meadow. He had been furiously poking buttons on the Poke'Dex until it started spewing out information on the Luxio. Curious, he piped up with ~Since when did you get all curious about your red machine?~ he looked over at the boy as followed suit towards the stump, casting a look around. ~Neither me nor Kiz had ever left our Route before.~ he thought for a moment and grinned, ~I doubt I'll be strong enough to defeat much Pokemon out here~ Not to mention there was a hefty type disadvantage for him out here. He surveyed the area though, Kiz would have liked to grow up here. Poor kid. Dmitriy was right - it really was pretty here....~Hey, Dmitriy...Did you say the word "pretty"?~
Karma trotted around Dmitriy so she was behind him, wanting to get a closer look at the machine that had pretty much dominated the conversation over their walk to the next meadow. ~I have, a few times.~ she nickered, casting a quick look around. ~It's very nice here.~ she offered, ~Lots to eat.~ For her anyway, and the grass here was so soft and delicious! She looked back over to Bane, her eyes sparkling at the lizard Pokemon, ~It's also a great place to run.~ She pranced in place for a moment, before settling down.
Oh what is Kai making wild Pokemon show up? The world is going to slep right through this miracle
The wind gently tugged a few Cottonee from a tree, and they and several Hoppips smiled and laughed, calling out their respective names and - every so often - they would bump into each other and giggle. Right on the tree the floating Pokemon just left, a Sewaddle was happily munching on a leaf and watching as a Kricketot bounced around shaking it's antennae, happily making music to continue it's 'dancing', which resembled more of wiggling hops - but the tunes weren't all that bad. In fact, it was mostly pretty pleasant - except when the poor little creature would trip.

He would never admit it, but the growing feeling of incompetence was wearing on him. Every time Walnut had to inform him of something, or every time a wild pokemon mentioned his lack of intelligence, he felt stupid. Usually he was well informed.. At least, that's how it always was in high school.
Instead of sharing, he shrugged. "I just forgot I had it is all. You reminded me earlier, so now I'm putting it to good use." He had an expression that seemed to display how obvious this information should have been, trying to hide his discomfort. He'd hoped he could seamlessly seem more interested without all the questions. "'Pretty' is very limited in my vocabulary. Actually, you'll probably only hear me say it with regard to nature and when I'm picking up women." He winked, rolling his neck and shoulders though neither were tense. The questions made him uncomfortable.
Bane took a few steps into the clearing, grinning over at the Ponyta. <Yeah, and the sun feels nice.> The trail had a lot more trees, whereas here the sky was clear of leafy obstructions. It nice to be able to soak in it, and also nice to have another fire-type to get excited with her. Unless of course the great feeling she got from sunlight was only a result of her being a lizard...
"Hey Bane." The voice made her look back to see Dmitriy's grin, "Think you can catch one of those floating white things? They look like cotton, but they're giggling." They both glanced over to where they were floating around. The Charmander could see how the boy thought catching one wouldn't create much of a fuss, but at the same time she wondered how good of an idea that actually was.
Not about to display intimidation by floating balls of fuzz, she started forward. After all, she was level seven now. She did know how to blow fire, even if it was the smallest Ember... When she felt close enough, she got on all fours, and then proceeded to jump at it.

Walnut considered this for a long moment, and smiled at the boy. ~I'm proud of you.~ he stuck out a claw, ~I know we made a bargain of a different type, but. I think by now I wouldn't leave your side even if someone tried to make me.~ he gestured at a Poke'ball, ~Just don't you dare keep me trapped in one of those for too long or I'll bust out and headbutt you in the kneecap.~
Looks like Bane got....
A Wild Cottonee to appear!
The white ball of fluff was extremely surprised to feel claws grabbing at her fluff and pulling her from the sky back toward the earth. And when she rotated to get a good look at what was going on she almost screamed (instead it came out as a small squeal). She had never seen anything so ugly or gaudy! Orange. How disgusting. ~Let me go this instant!~ she yelled, rotating herself a little. ~Before we start having fisticuffs~
[/size] (So, for one thing. I love Conquest sprites. And for two, omg I never thought I would get to use fisticuffs in a roleplay post I am so happy right now you have no idea).

Dmitriy reddened at the compliment, shaking the Cranidos' offered claw and grinning. "I've been wondering when you'd give up and go. I don't think I can evolve Kiz before I hit a city, and she's hardly gained a level." He shook his head at the thought, adding, "And I didn't want anyone else to try to like.. catch you or something." He didn't want to seem too excited about adding Walnut to his team, but it was getting impossible at this time by the combination of grin and babble. So, to cut things short, he added with a grin, "I bought a few luxury balls," he shrugged, grin widening, "Never been in a pokeball or anything, but they sound nice."
Bane blinked down at the pokemon as she was yelled at. Fisticuffs? With a ball of fluff? She couldn't help it, but she found herself laughing. Hard. "You want to fight with me?" She asked incredulously, "You're made out of cotton. I breath fire. Is that really something you want to do?" She lashed her tail in the air, still holding the Pokemon down, hoping to get her trainer's attention.
Dmitriy saw what he thought was a struggle and glanced over. However, it looked far from one. It looked more like Bane successfully holding a ball of fluff to the ground and waving her tail around. "Think she needs help or something?" He asked curiously, still not bothering to get up. Instead, he directed his pokedex at the creature on the ground and pressed the button for more information. "I mean... it looks pretty harmless."

The Cranidos eyed Dmitriy, ~I'm not giving up, if anything...I'm signing on to be your Guardian full-time, forever.~ He smiled at the boy - soon to be his new trainer - and nodded, ~They do sound nice. Don't look to bad either.~ he held his claws out for the ball, curious and if only a little bit anxious.
~Well if you want to pick a fight, you'll have your little hands full you ruffian!~ she considered the rest of what the oddly colored lizard spoke, and still spoke as if the danger was very minimal. ~Cotton is tougher than you would think, and at least I have manners!~ she added the last bit with a huff and a quick wriggle of her body. ~Now if you do not unhand me, we shall have to have a duel!~
Ping! Cottonee, the Cotton Puff Pokemon. Cottonee will often shoot cotton out of it's mouth with provoked; the cotton is used to distract opponents so that Cottonee can escape. This Pokemon travels wherever the wind blows it. When it rains, their bodies become heavier, so they seek shelter beneath large trees.

((-hyperventilating because she's not sure if her version of Walnut will do him justice-))
With a small smile Dmitriy retrieved one of the Luxury Balls and carefully placed it in the ground type's hands. "I wouldn't want to catch you off guard with a Pokeball to the face," he laughed, "You can let yourself in when you feel like it."
Bane snorted, "A duel it is," she said as she hopped off the fluffy white pokemon, "Don't even try to escape or I'll breath fire on you while I hold you down." At least she was decent enough to offer a fair fight. Or fisticuffs, as the Cottonee had said. She could have just as easily lit the little thing on fire a few moments ago.
"Though it'd be nice if you waited til after this battle." He said quickly, hopping off the log and taking a step in the direction of his little fire type provoking the Cottonee, "I'm too used to you overlooking them, I'd probably mess up if you weren't. I'm adamant a Cranidos for every battle is good luck or something"

Walnut took the ball, and held it while giving it a curious once over. He turned it around in his claws a few times, before he nodded, smiling. ~A Cranidos a day keeps the losers away, yes?~ he laughed, following by Dmitriy's heels, ~I don't really think you need luck for this.~ he looked up at Dmitriy, ~I think you'll do alright.~ so he closed both eyes. ~Just fine on your own~
The Cottonee floated for a second, and then narrowed her red eyes. ~Run!~ she shook her fluffy body, ~I am appalled. I, am no coward.~ and with that, the white fluff drew herself back a little and shot a small seed out at her foe. A Leech Seed to be particular.

Bane was honestly expecting the other pokemon to run, so was set to offense mode rather than defense. She cursed herself when the seed made contact, knowing she could have easily avoided it by blowing fire, or dodging or something. She didn't feel any affects, blinking. Maybe it was a weird status changer?
Dmitriy looked equally as confused, averting his gaze from his- his- Cranidos. "Um.. Ember, obviously." He said simply, shrugging to show he had no idea either. Bane obeyed without question, spewing a small trickle of flames at the opposing pokemon. The instant she took a breath after, there was a burn, and a small trickle of green seeped out of her towards the other pokemon.
She watched it go, eyes narrowing. "Health sapping moves are cheap!" She said accusingly, steadying herself to ready for another attack.

The Embers struck the wild Cottonee (though she had been warned, a part of her didn't believe something could literally breath fire) and she let out a small gasp as the hot fire flew across her doing a vicious amount of damage. She waved her little leafy appendages for a moment, letting out a sigh as the green light of her Leech Seed pulsed over her. It cooled some of her cotton down, and with a shake and a glare she used the only other move she really knew, Absorb. ~So is grabbing someone who was just minding their own business!~ she retorted, sour.

"Maybe I just wanted to be your friend?" Bane suggested, lying through her teeth. It had been an order, but at the same time... it also looked fun. I mean, what floats around without expecting something to go after it at some point? Looking like that, the Cottonee deserved to be ambushed.
"Use your new move, I want to see what it looks like." Dmitriy commanded, not even realizing how good of an idea that really was.
Bane instantly dashed forward, getting until she was almost directly in front of the foe before launching herself into the air, diving down with exhilarating speed. It knocked the breath out of her, but she still lashed out a claw to slash the opponent.

The Cottonee fixed the Charmander with a Look. She knew a lie when she heard one, and that was a lie. A bold-faced lie. Not even cunningly deployed! She huffed and was about to attack with another Absorb with the Charmander soared into her. 'Wha-' she barely even had time to think before the claws and body of her opponent smashed into her. It felt like she had been cut in half, she rotated in the air to fix Bane with an astonished and pained look. She gladly accepted the return of a little of her HP through her Leech Seed and launched another Absorb, desperately trying to reclaim her lost health.

"Woah that was fucking awesome!" Dmitriy said excitedly, beaming at the battling pokemon, "You were like a blur or something, seriously!" Just seeing the move made it worth buying, it wasn't even a question as to how effective it actually was. Though it certainly looked effective, with how fast his Charmander had been going.
There was another green wisp tugging out of Bane now, and she looked more peeved than injured by it. As if seeking to catch the health before making it back to the other pokemon, she ran forward and clawed just as the green seeped back into the opponent. The Scratch hadn't been ordered, but something more personal certainly seemed needed with such a wordy opponent.

The Cottonee was certainly losing her steam, the type disadvantage was quite overwhelming. But she refused to give in. As the Scratch made contact, she made a grab for the Charmander with her leaves so she could make a direct attack with her Absorb. She relished the minor return of some of her health through her Leech Seed, narrowing her eyes in determination.

"Take her out." Dmitriy ordered vaguely, watching as his pokemon tried to pull her arm away. The health drained away slowly, and instead she decided to use this to her advantage. Inhaling a huge breath, she blew flames, point blank, in the other's face. Her tail lashed to the side violently as she did so, hoping this would be the last time her life was drained from her. The feeling was starting to build up, leaving her feeling a little (punyeah) drained.
Dmitriy pulled out his last normal pokeball, taking note to buy more in Sandwind. That was the next city, wasn't it? He didn't want to use his precious Luxury Balls on pokemon that didn't need it.
