He took a step away as another torrent of water splashed across his stomach. Putting his arms over the water again didn't seem like an appetizing idea. Those things seemed like they had a bite that could shred skin and take a chunk easily. His expression was frustrated at first, before a small smile tugged at the sides of his mouth.
Feeling satisfied with the sudden idea that snapped into place in his head, he grinned and straightened. "Fine. We'll see what you have to eat now." Slinging his bag from his shoulder, he snatched a Pokeball, gently throwing it at the upside down Pokemon.

The Remoraid halted their frenzied swirling for only a moment as the Poke'ball came down towards the Lotad. They weren't stupid - they had seen how the thing worked. It had to make contact. A little head popped up near the Lotad, and shot a Water Gun at the Poke'ball - intending to send it arcing back towards Dmitriy with as much force as the silver fish could muster. The rest of his friends continued to swim and swirl around the Lotad.

He ducked away, not even willing to catch his ball if it involved another dowsing. He narrowed his eyes in challenge, finally fed up with this whole cherade. He was mostly sure they were simply making a fool of him for fun, or of course, eating the Lotad. Either of them was unacceptable.
Without another word, he snatched two Pokeballs off his belt. The first Pokemon he sent was the last addition to his team. The Cottonee he expected to be floating around happily laid on the ground in a little white cottony heap. He stared at it. Why on earth... Oh!
Hoping his dilemma had not been noticed, he grabbed the one and only Revive he owned, thankful it had been an addition to his starting pack. In less than a minute, the Cottonee was back in the air, offering a, <Well at least you had the decency to bring me back after that rude first impression. She said indignantly, taking in the entirety of her surroundings.
Dmitriy and his Charmander both did an identical eye roll, finding her snappy attitude in this situation frustrating to an extreme. He opened his mouth to retort, but his second released Pokemon beat him to it. <Enough.> Thea looked at her, expression just as irritated, <This is a place for battle not stupid arguments.>
Dmitriy couldn't help grin at this. At least one of the two was focused on what was at hand. "Right!" He began, eyes narrowing challenging at the swarm of fish, "Deliah, Leech Seed! Thea, Razor Leaf!"
<Deliah?> She thought about this, even though the Chikorita had startled her for a moment into silence <Is that supposed to be my name?>
Dmitriy hesitated, unsure if the right answer to that question was yes or no. Probably informing her that it sounded like a flowery name to match her flowery personality was not something she wanted to hear. He, fortunately, didn't have to respond at that moment, when the rush of leaves surrounded his Chikorita and sliced through the water. Some of them floated back to the top quickly, and he hoped on the others to make contact. Deliah followed suit, throwing a handful of seeds at her opponent.

Almost immediately the spring lit up an ethereal blue, and the seething Remoraid were instantly calmed. They swam idly near the surface, as though wondering where they were, or what they were doing. Even the unruliest of them (the one that shone the brightest silver, and shot Dmitriy's Pokeball back at him) was swimming quite contentedly. The glowing light winked out, and an eerie red-eyed shadow was visible from the bottom of the spring...It was clearly much deeper than the average spring; perhaps connected to an underwater lake of some kind. The Shadow glared up at the Trainer and his Pokemon for what seemed to be a very long moment, before surging up to the top of the water and breaking the surface to reveal...A Milotic. She floated in midair, turning an acutely unamused face toward the boy and his two Pokemon. Her calming effect might not have worked on them, being that they were outside the water, but she wanted to make sure these Pokemon (and person) knew the spring was supposed to be a peaceful territory.

All of them were completely startled. His two grass types took a step back, and both he and his Charmander took two. He suspected Karma was far away from his spectacle as well, assuming she didn't book it once water started flying.
Feeling like it was a bad time to use his Pokedex, Dmitriy spoke up with, "So... you are who the Scyther was talking about?" He put his hands behind his back innocently, like he had no just intended to attack a dozen fish from the safety of the land. His cheeks reddened slightly, nearly able to feel her disapproval. "Just so you know, they started it. I was just being a good Samaritan."

Karma was, by this point, well away. She was still looking over at them - but the amount of...angry looking water-types had scared her to safer ground.
The Milotic, divinely floating, took another long moment to answer. ~You mean to say~ she started, voice eloquent and lilting, ~That you were trying to interrupt the circle of life?~ she stared at him like a teacher looks at a promising student who have a totally wrong answer to a very simple question. She curled then, sitting as most Milotic do - with the fan end of her tail over her face. She seemed content to ignore anything else Dmitriy had said; she did not consider herself some deity of the spring like some of the other Pokemon here. She did, however, enjoy her peace and quiet - both of which were tampered with. And at once no less.

He considered a response, for a rather long period of time. Yes, technically, he was interrupting the "circle of life". But isn't meddling what humans were for anyways? Besides, he wasn't going to witness a murder and not step in. "Actually..." He spoke slowly, choosing each word carefullly, "I was... participating. In the circle of life."
He rocked on his heels awkwardly, looking between her and the fish, then the Lotad. "If they want to eat him, they should have the curtesy to do it discreetly, or at least wait until I'm gone." He crossed his arms and fixed her with an unyeilding expression once he came to his decision. "It's rude. Also, how do you know I didn't intend to eat them?" He gestured to the peaceful looking fish. Damn liars, not showin' her their true colors... "This sounds like favoritism, and if you are meant to be the mediator here, I'd expect a more fair justice system."

It was almost as though the Milotic were reading the Trainers' thoughts, ~Do you eat your meals in secrecy?~ she asked, ~I always thought it was a group exercise; most creatures - both human and Pokemon - eat together.~ she stared at him bluntly, ~Most people whose intentions are to eat the denizens of this spring come with a fishing pole; a device you lack. Among other things.~ with that she gave the trainer another once over, looking unimpressed. ~I am not some deity, there is no such thing as "fair"~ she turned her head, ~The concept of justice is lost in this world.~ her eyes were dull- her fury of being disturbed long lost. Whatever Dmitriy had said seemed to have triggered something in the floating Milotic.

"When I eat with other people, I make sure whatever I eat doesn't offend them." He huffed, crossing his arms. Her once-over had bothered him, putting him in a considerably more sour mood. What did she know, anyways? "I am sure they would be far from impressed if I snatched one of them out of the lake and started eating them while they were alive. I mean seriously, what if I found another... snake water thing and ate it in front of you?"
Not to mention, technically, it was his kill anyways. What if he had wanted to eat it? "I also don't steal. I knocked him out fair and square, so he should be mine." He leaned over and picked up the Pokeball he'd tried to use before. "See? And when I tried to claim him, they wouldn't let me.'

~Perhaps you should have claimed him sooner, then?~ she questioned, raising a brow at his strange logic. ~What exactly are you trying to prove?~ she canted to the side, flowing elegantly - like a dragon of legendary decent. ~Are you trying to defend yourself so strongly because you know you're wrong?~ it was a soft challenge, ~Most of the things you consume were once alive, does it truly matter that all the functions have stopped before you eat it?~ at this she re-curled in the air, giving Dmitriy a flat look, devoid of any emotion. They were mostly just harmless questions, to see if he would further try to defend himself. She had, after all, never said he had done anything wrong. Just that she had been annoyed.

He frowned, expression full of indigence. "Well, uh, yeah. Kinda." He said it with overwhelming sarcasm, like she had just asked the most ridiculous thing. Probably because she had asked the most ridiculous thing. "What if I jumped in right now and started chomping on you like you were some kind of giant noodle?" She was a giant noodle. A giant, aggravating, talking noodle.
"Look. I think you're being a little biased to your fishy friends here." He glared at them as a sort of gesture to determine which fishy friends he was talking about. "Either make them give it up, or let them fight for it. I'm not leaving until at least one of those things happen."

Her expression changed to one of mild amusement, ~You say that like they are mine to command. They are not my minions, nor my children. I cannot tell them what to do.~ she tilted her head to the side, ~And I would find your attempts at trying to consume me amusing at best.~ perhaps he couldn't see, but she was a scaled creature. Just "chomping" on her would not result in much pain from human jaws.

He stared at her for multiple seconds before letting out a huff, entirely at a loss for words. To be honest, the conversation was starting to get on his nerves. They could do this all day, and he had better things to do than banter with a noodle. "You know what? You're a Pokemon. I don't need to ask you permission to do what I want." He looked down at dual grass-types at his feet. "Hmmm... Thea!" He finally summoned, and she jumped to her feet eagerly, eyes going between him and what she presumed her target was.
"Razor Leaf! And keep your distance, I don't want those fish messing with your odds by double teaming you." He glared at them. At least since the new Pokemon arrived they'd settled down.
On command, the Chikorita stepped forward (only slightly though, to heed Dmitriy's warning and avoid getting within water gun distance of the Remoraid). A rush of leaves spilled out from around her before slicing through the air like razors towards her opponent.

Now the Milotic was quite amused, and leaned back on an invisible current to watch.
The Remoraid, having been listening the whole time, dove underwater as soon as the order was issued - and the Milotic winced as all the leaves intended to hit the party of Remoraids bit into the already defeated Lotad. It was surely in bad state now... But, in fact, looked no worse for the wear (aside from the fresh wounds of Razor Leaf). One Remoraid popped it's head back up from the depths, eying Dimitri with a gaping open mouth. "Reh." it opened and closed it's mouth a few times, before shooting a blast at the trainer, and letting out a giggle of "Rehehehehe"s

He glared at it in response, indignation rising up inside of him and making him legitimately angry. His hands clenched at his side, and he forced himself to keep his composure and not just yell at the blasted things. "Thea, take over this battle. I know you know how, from the arena Bane met you in. Make sure you shake it up though, so they can't predict it."
She gave him a curt nod, determination setting in as the frustration rubbed off on her from her trainer. Justice had to be done, anyways. Regardless how much of a jerk the Lotad had been, she didn't want to see it be devoured. Her tail glowed slightly, a sickly purple starting to gather at the tip until a drop fell and burned slightly through the leafy floor. With narrowed eyes she dashed forward (hoping to make it quick to avoid backlash) and sliced through the water towards the fish. The Toxic rippled through the water, turning a portion of it into a sickly purple.
