Ardeo grinned and leaned back as he watched Bane stagger forward; this was it. Both were on thier last legs, it seemed. If Bane missed, then the bird-thing would surely snatch victory. "C'mon Bane! Show'm what Fire-types can do!" he crossed his arms as he watched the gap close, wondering who would win and cheering for Dmitriy silently.
==== { Kai } ====
"Wow, only a few months ago and you already have a strong Cacturne, huh?" Kai grinned, "Impressive. I can't wait to see him get better." he tilted his head to get a glimpse of the other battle, and smiled to himself, looks like they did a domino effect. Once one person starts doing something, everyone wants to do it. At least battles were more interesting than dancing, and less embarrassing.

White nodded to Vincent, smiling a little. "Yeah, I have a pokemon center machine in the back room, actually." he admitted, smiling. "Oh, I gotta pair everyone up! Hang on!" He jumped up, jogging up to the podium at the end of the gym, standing up on the podium. An abra appeared ontop of the podium as White approached. "You've got the names for me, then?" White asked it quietly, and the Abra nodded, a smile on it's face with it's eyes shut. The abra, along with other psychic pokemon in the room, had paired off the people within it.
"Alright, everyone, attention!" he tapped the mic, his voice coming out a bit louder. "The psychic pokemon around the room have paired you off. I'm going to say the names the Abra gives me. When your name is read out, a light shield will be placed around you so you can look around and find the person you've been paired with. Once you see who you're paired with and I've read out all the names, you can come up and we'll give you each your pokemon!" he said, and looked towards the abra, who nodded again. "Ok...So here are the names..." White started, keeping a watchful eye on the Abra as he started speaking. "Kaki and Dmitriy... ...Imogene and Kallan... ...Molly and Isaac... ...Hinako and Connor... ...Sulteron and Ardeo... ...Ciara and Luke... Savannah and Novis... Oh yeah, there were more guys than girls, sorry 'bout that... ...Leah and Kai... ...and Rin and Brandon." When he finished, he looked expectanty around the rom, a small grin playing on his face as he waited to see the trainers find their partners and come to get their pokemon.
-
Molly glanced up as she heard her name, looking over as she heard the name Isaac, and noticing the guy a little ways away from her glow. Not worrying much about being embarrassed, she headed over to him. "Hey, you're Isaac? I'm Molly." she held out her hand- it had become a bit of a habit to her, now. Though, at the same time, she wanted to see what pokemon she'd get...
-
Luke blinked, glancing sideways at Ciara, who was near Connor and Sulteron. Holding a hand up to wave to Kai with a sheepish grin, he started to jog towards Ciara, and promptly tripped over his feet. Staggering back up, he kept going at the same pace, and fell awkwardly into the group of people. His grey eyes flicked sideways at the other people for a moment before he greeted the girl who he was paired up with. "Ciara right? Guess we're pairs." he said with a smile, a little surprised that the dance had gone by so fast already.

Novis, as is typical of him, expressed no emotion about the pairing event.
Until he heard his name.
Not knowing who this "Savannah" was, Novis scanned the Gym again, until he found his target.
Apparently he'd been paired with the guy in the skirt. "Well this was interesting..." he said to himself as he floated over to Savannah.
"So, apparently we broke the system and got paired up. Ready to see what Pokemon we'll get?"

((XDD had to do it.))
Vincent raised his hand sheepishly, "I didn't get a pair." he shouted to the gym leader, looking around the room, "Is there an odd number or something? Or will I not get a pair or pair off with someone else who has a pair already?" He was confused. Where was his psychic fusion pokemon thingymajigg?
Leah looked around the room, locating this Kai person and giving him an enthusiastic wave. She grinned back at Savannah before leaping acros the room happily to latch onto "her guy's' arm with her own, grinning at him. "I'm Leah." She said, laughing, "I guess that makes us a couple." She giggled to herself, watching the other people pair up.
Dmitriy looked up from his battle, waving awkwardly to Kaki before focusing again on the situation at hand. She would need to come to him, as he had no intention of leaving the battle unfinished. He watched also as Brandon approached his opponent as she lit up with the shield marking too. He didn't say anything, just watched the two pokemon fight, sending the woman looks in between curiously.

"Huh?" Hinako asked. She'd not been paying attention, really just standing in the background, being antisocial as she was. She glanced around, not exactly sure who she was looking for. This entire time she'd just been floating around the edges of the party, not wanting to socialize, really.
Well, this would be... strange. Bizarre.
Other words of that nature...
____
Kaki, meanwhile, hadn't been socializing either. She'd been standing in the doorway the entire time, confused. Her name was called first, and she immediately shot up, glacning around. As she did this, her goggles slid down to her neck, her hair straightening out with it.
How embarassing! She thought, scrambling to adjust her goggles, pressing the brown goggles back up to her forhead. She hated her hair when it was straight like that.
She did, from the corner of her eye, catch a guy waving at her. Was that Dmitriy? She had no idea. She scratched her head and started to walk closer to him, trying to figure it out. It was probably a yes, but she had no clue. She continued to approach, standing about four meters away.
Yes, she was quite antisocial.

As bored as ever, Kallan and Vincent had begun to mess around. When the intercom began to sputter names, the two boys looked up from their small table of tea and crumpets, holding tiny little cups ever so delicately. As he heard Imogene and his name placed together, Kallan twirled his moustache, shifted his monocle and raised his top hat. Vincent watched and did the same. “Dear Vincent, I believe my name and that old bean Imogene have been called together.” Kallan said in a faux British accent. “Pip pip, cheerio and all that rot, ho hum yes.” <Quite, Quite,> replied Vincent. <But where is the ol’ blighter, Sir Kallan? Hurr hum yes,> he added, feeling a bit confused at this game.
The older boy stood up, his get-up vanishing. “Splendid question, Wats.. Vincent.” His eyes scanned the room. Okay, so she still hasn’t entered since our tea party. Wow- That sounds weird. He scratched his head and plopped back into his chair. He looked over to Vincent, still pimped out in the British Posh get-up, so he ordered to him, “Stop.” Vincent crossed his arms in a huff and the monocle, moustache and top hat disappeared. <I really liked that moustache,> he muttered as he looked away, strangely remorseful. Kallan looked at the door a little longer before he took a glance at Vincent and his outfit. “Black.. That’s quite a dark shade on you, isn’t it..?” The little boy hadn’t noticed that before, and before he could argue in protest, Kallan’s own outfit had changed into a contrasting white tux. Vincent blinked. <You too.> Boredly, the little kid started slumping, feeling stuck with Kallan (and almost turning into him as he sat there gloomily).

Ciara turned to look at Luke,"Well, I guess you're right, so...uhhh....." She stammered on for a second or two. Then she realized something, "Uh, Luke, do you by any chance know how everybody seems to know me?" She wondered why she hadn't thought of it before, as a matter of fact, it seemed that every time Ciara went somewhere they instantly knew her. Almost like they've heard of, or been to her wild parties with her sister....

(( oops, I probably... should have brought her in. XD))
Imogene had been standing up on the balcony of the gym- she'd come inside and noticed a staircase, and throughout the entire dance, she'd simply been exploring around the top floor of the building, trying to find a way to get onto the ceiling. But, she didn't actually get there. Still, as she heard her name, she panicked- she was partnered with Kallan? She didn't even know he was here! Leaning over the railing up above the gym, she looked down at the mass of people, finally spotting two boys who looked very... British. As she watched in confusion, their hats disappeared, and one of the tuxes turned white- that was unmistakeably Kallan. "H-hang on!" she stammered for no one to hear, and looked side to side, finally running down the little hall and nearly falling down the spiral staircase that had led her up there in the first place. She stopped awkwardly in front of Kallan and Vincent, blinking as she did so. They looked so... snazzy. She herself was wearing a white sun-dress, since no other colour seemed to go with her hair. "Hi," she said sheepishly, smiling. "Sorry about that, I got a bit distracted! I didn't even know you were here," she added.
-
White looked down at Vincent as he complained, and raised an eyebrow. He was right... that was confusing. "Well, we can be a pair," he suggested, and winked. Immediately after, however, he burst out laughing in spite of himself. "We're both gym leaders anyways, though, right? It'd be cool to communicate, and sorry about that... I don't know why you weren't paired up." he looked at the Abra in front of him accusingly, but the little pokemon just giggled and then disappeared, as White attempted to grab at thin air to keep it from teleporting.
-
Luke looked at Ciara in confusion, and then shrugged. "To be honest, I don't even know you except that your name's Ciara. But I'm not really one to know a lot of people, so don't trust my word." he said with a laugh, scratching the back of his neck as he held his other hand out. "Anyways, nice to meet you. Guess we'll be friends now, right? Wanna go up and get our pokemon?"

Ardeo made an odd face as the shield came up around him, blinking as everyone near him turned a sort of dull, muted, color while someone across the room lit up like fireworks. He paused for a moment, letting the information the Gym Leader spoke sink into his skull before tilting his head, and then finally beaming. Partner! That was right. It was mentioned at the start of the dance. Though he admittedly didn't pay much attention to that bit... But, then again, he never really paid attention to anything. "Yo, Dmitriy! I'll catch up with you after this... Whatever it is. Lemme know how this goes." he motioned his hands around in circles, before giving a small wave and traveling towards the Espeon with a big grin on his face, "Heeey!"
==== { Kai } ====
Kai blinked as Luke gave him a wave, and he returned it meekly as his name was called out. He'd sort of forgotten how people liked to celebrate Valentines. In those, you know, "pairs". "Eh?" he blinked as he was quickly approached by a young girl, who without so much as a wave or hello wrapped her arm around his own. Blushing slightly, he nodded, "I, uhm. Yeah. I'm Kai." he looked sideways at her, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

(( Snazzy.. With or without the ‘staches? |D ))
Kallan was boredly raising the knife on his illusional guillotine from his seat while Vincent played with a little bird that chirped happily on his finger. That was until Imogene came falling down the staircase, and both looked up rather surprised at the guess they thought would never arrive. Vincent laughed at her flustered appearance. The bird flew off his finger and disappeared in a cloud of feathers as the little boy held his knees and chuckled, “You’re a funny person, Imo!” Kallan cracked a grin at his friend’s reaction. “Is this Vinny who’s laughing? Hey buddy, don’t let the color black get to you.” Vincent looked up from his giggling and gave a playful push to his friend. “Don’t let the color white get to you!” he said teasingly, his Gastly fangs showing in his smile. Kallan turned a little pale though, and his smile dropped. I don’t think this is the Vincent I know after all.
He itched his neck and stared absentmindedly at Imogene, but lettng the weird behavior pass, Kallan put on a smile- a little more mischievous than his last. “Well, Imogene, glad you made it. Yes, we walked all the way here just to be with you,” he said with less enthusiasim than it suggested. “And guess what, through.. coincidence-” Vincent gave him a ”Oh, I’m suuuure” face and shook his head “-we got paired together. Well.” Kallan stood up, clapped his hands as if it just began the party and gave a curteous bow. He angled his head up, dark blue eyes swirling like murky water, and he lent his hand out for Imogene.
“Happy Valentine’s Day.” The rose placed in front of his heart seemed to wither supernaturally, the petals falling one by one onto the ground. “Hope you have a blast, heh?”

((With and without, man. With and without.))
Imogene couldn't help but smile at the two guys, glancing up at the bird as it disappeared in a flutter of feathers. Looking back at Kallan, she laughed a bit. "Yeah yeah, I'm sure you walked all the way here." She blinked, raising an eyebrow at the 'coincidence' he mentioned, and glanced sideways at Vincent before looking back at Kallan. She smiled once again, her face turning a bit hot as he bowed like he did, staring back into his eyes before she blinked and then curtseyed herself, holding one edge of her dress as she did so. "I'm flattered," she said, and then laughed (for, well, a lack of anything better to do), taking his hand. "Same to you."

A flicker of light passed through Kallan’s eyes, and he gave Imogene a sideways glance with a slow chuckle. “Glad to know you trust me on that.” There was no lie this time about how he got here, really- but maybe he’d lied about other things. Who knows. (Well, Kallan does. Good luck with that.)
Kallan looked down at Imogene’s hand, now in his. He stifled a grunt. Well, I put myself into this, he thought, wrapping his other arm around her back. “The ballroom dance, you know it well,” he muttered, to either Imogene or himself. It wasn’t clear, but he took a step back anyway, beginning the promenade.
“Well, I’ve got something better than chocolates for you, pumpkin.” He said it like it came off a cold slate of metal. “I don’t think we’ve properly gotten to know each other, besides my name and what I do nowadays. But there’s more besides that- I don’t think you even know how old I am.” Kallan was certainly in a rare, generous mood; where he usually was closed up and away, something about the art of dance gave him so much nostalgia it was almost too much fun to wave it in someone else’s face. If they were smart enough to grab it before it was gone. “So, ten questions. Anything. I mean it, you can ask me.. Age, favorite color, favorite bird.. favorite food, relationships- oh, that’s a good one- uhh, sexuality-” Kallan suddenly raised a hand in protest. ” I’m hetero, let me get that straight. Okay, don’t ask that one. Wait, I have more.. Anything about Vincent.. Health problems.. Wealth status? Or, I mean, what it once was.. Oh, I’m getting ahead of myself. Anyway, ask away. Choose your wording well,” he said, sounding awfully like instructions to a board game.
Vincent watched as he became old news to Kallan, sighing and resting his head on his hand. “Bye Hawkie,” he had said before he had walked off with Imogene, seeing if he’d remember the old time, but he was too distant to hear him. He grumbled and wondered if being this Vincent was really that much fun as Kallan pushed him into thinking it was. He felt too stuck to the ground, less free than when he was a floating gas ball of fun. But the night had already begun, and there were people everywhere; Vincent realized he was getting much too ahead of himself. That little sparrow from earlier came back and perched on his noggin, and with good ol’ grin the ten-year old Gastly boy stood from his seat and wandered into the middle of the room. What could I do? Err.. I’ll just wait for someone to notice me. Can’t really think of anything.

Imogene followed him out into the dance floor, a bit surprised. Her hand found it's way to his shoulder, and she fell in step with him, a bit relieved she actually knew the dance. Her mother had taught her that much... As he started speaking, her gaze moved from their feet up to his eyes. She watched him intently- the regular goggles on her face were gone, so it was only tonight she wasn't really seeing the world through rose-coloured glasses. At least it had given her the chance to see the real colour of his eyes. When she listened to him speak, she became more and more confused. Questions came up in her head, like, 'Why are you doing this?' and 'Who are you, anyways?' but she kept herself from opening her mouth. In order to find out, well, she had 10 questions. Now wasn't the time to be too curious; at least, not in the way she normally was. A small grin played on her face as he clarified his sexuality for her. This was a Kallan he hadn't seen yet. "Ok then... How old are you? How do you know Vincent? What's your favourite type of music? Where are you from? What's your favourite colour?" and, taking his advice, "...What was your last relationship? Do you hate anyone, and if so, who?" she paused, thinking some more. "Same question, except do you love anyone? And does Vincent have any health problems? And, last one, um..." She stopped for a second, glancing upwards. This was tough. Her mind ran over the ones she'd already asked. "How do you look at yourself?" After she asked the questions, she took another breath and looked at him. She wanted to see his reactions, to hear his answers, but... the way Kallan could say some things as if they didn't matter at all, she'd have to listen to his words more than just his voice. "And then I want you to ask me 10 questions." she added quickly after, deciding it was only fair.

Kallan gave her a long, serious look. Maybe he wasn’t ready after all. To fill in the gaps of those questions, the answers that would need much explaining.. Was there any loopholes in there he could manage? He looked away and rummaged through the list of questions, seeing if there was anything he could avoid saying. (If Imo looked carefully, the words were actually rolling down his eyes like the credits at the end of a movie.) “Okay ,let me start off with the most obvious; I hate just about everyone. Maybe not when people stray away from being ‘everyone’, but, eh.. That takes effort. And time.” Kallan paused to think how weird this was, ready to spill out way too much information for him to handle. Then again, it was already too much for him to hoard as well. Might as well get it off his chest.. “Favorite music? Well, I like the piano. I played it too.” For a short second the boy lowered his head and gave a little smile, but it was gone in a flash. “That’s about it for music. Here, there, whatever. And blue’s a nice color. I dunno.” I threw that bird question out there for a reason. Ask it.. Damn it. Favorite color.. Who cares? “And where am I from? Tarro Town. The spookiest house on the hill.. think we’ve already established this.” But at least some of these silly questions gave him time to think over the more difficult ones. Every step of the way he cursed himself for doing this. “Alright.. Time for the hard ones. Okay, have I ever.. fancied anyone. Um, I’m not quite sure. Maybe.” Those eyes of him were playing tricks again, swirling into many shades of blue until it was unsure which color it really was. “I don’t think- well, I can’t really answer that question. And I don’t want to think about it.” Kallan’s eyes had stopped at a color nearing solid black. This was the deep end. “Relationships. I still keep the evidence lying around about that one, see.” On the hand that held Imogene’s, he wriggled his ring finger. Like the finger name suggests, there was a golden band wrapped around it, in tiny print enscribed ‘Ramseyer’. Nothing else. Just a circle that went around till infinity, no matter which way you started tracing it. “Arranged marriage, okay.. okay.” There was silence, a dark shadow over Kallan’s face until he looked up and continued. “Vincent Julien Boyd.. was her little brother. Adopted, though don’t tell him, please. His father hated him and beat him, so he spent a lot of time near Grace. That was her name by the way.” Another pause. “See, he. Grew on me. It’s hard not to.” Kallan stared off into space. He couldn’t hear a thing, just.. nothing. “No health conditions. Died when he was ten though.” With a sudden jolt, Kallan knew he had said too much. Frightened of the power of six words, he looked to Imogene, then the wall, then a quick glance at her again. And then the wall became his staring buddy.
“You sure.. you want to know how old I am?” he asked weakly, probably the last word the ghost wanted to describe himself as. “That’s my first question.”

Imogene listened, her face becoming rather blank as she did so, for lack of any other expressions to put on. When he said he played piano, Imogene smiled too. That was a really admirable talent. I wish I'd learned. Still, her smile stayed on longer than his did. The answers that came after the few he'd just said were beginning to sound more and more... like the Kallan she'd known. Nothing she could have ever predicted, however. She looked down at the ring as his hand moved, and studied it briefly before she looked back up to listen about Vincent. That was surprising, though- an arranged marriage? I didn't know they still did that... Of course, Imogene hated the idea of something like that. But she didn't have much time to think over her thoughts befre Kallan started up again. He seemed to care a lot about Vincent. She was silently glad the two of them had each other, since they both seemed... well, very 'lost', in general. Still, it was a very neat little glimpse into his life, as well as Vincent's. It felt strange, hearing about it. "No health conditions. Died when he was ten though." It took Imogene a moment for her mind to register what Kallan had said. Her mouth silently formed the sound, "Wh-", but no sound came out. She watched him stare at the wall behind her. "Y-yeah, I want to know." she said. It wasn't so much now that she wanted to know- now it felt more like she needed to know. Her mind was somewhat blank from shock. All of that information piled in there, but his last sentence threw it all off balance and it seemed to come crumbling down.
