The growlith didn't like it either, but he followed close behind head lowered to the ground as he glanced around to try and find any ambushing pokemon. The Wooper followed behind, scared like she had been practically the entire time. The psyduck didn't' seem to care as he waddled through the wall. The wall behind them made a crackling noise before turning a dark purple then disappearing. Beside them, two more pokeballs. This time both of them contained pokemon. Two shinx. Up ahead, loud shouts and laughter could be heard.

{ X3 I forgot to mention that about those two. they're in the same Poke'ball for some reason. Sorry }
Ardeo's eyes brightened when he saw the Poke'ball, and grinned brightly, "Sheilds, Saffron!" he lunged forward, ignoring the wall for the moment to lean down and pick up the capsule, "And that is one piece, returned to my soul..."he clipped it to his belt, glancing at the wall before rolling his eyes. 'Worth a trick or seven to get two of my friends back.' "Do you still smell Tak? The Charmander?" he asked, looking down to his new furry companion and having a dreadful feeling it would have something to do with the shouts of laughter and noise up ahead.

The growlith frowned dispite the reunion before him. <I.. smell a charmander.> He said, his voice nearly whispering now, <I don't think it's Tak.> The laughter and noise grew louder and suddenly they were surrounded by five ghost pokemon. The ghastly from the beginning was one of them, along with two Duskulls and two Shuppets. They didn't attack, however. Instead, two charmanders came at them from around a tombstone. They had very large claws and numerous battle scars scored their bodies. Their eyes were glowing menacingly. <You wanted a charmander. We gave you a charmander.> Th ghosts said in unison, like a chant. They flew around hectically overhead, soaring higher and higher until they could safely watch from above. The charmanders clawed towards them, taking two different routes, moving up and around the tombstones, marking them with almost Sneasle-like claws. This time, even the growlith backed away a little, terrified. The Wooper didn't move, frozen to the spot, and the psyduck... stood there watching.

"A Charmander? I want my Charmander!" he growled, glaring up at the Ghosts before dragging himself back to the present, as a headstone made a sickening crack. "Alright, so. Not good." He thought about it, "Uh, Wooper, your a Water-type, right? Do you know Water Gun? Now would be a good time to use it. You too, Psyduck...If, you...Can." He took a step back, personally. Those Charmanders were downright creepy. He was almost glad Tak wasn't here to see them- but...Then again, he would've have rathered known his friend was safe and near him then somewhere in this (stupid) maze.

Both the pokemon acquired a rather determined look before attacking. The Wooper's battle instincts from when she was with a trainer kicked in and as soon as the water left her mouth, she scooped up the moist mud from beneath her and lobbed it at one of the Charmanders. As for the psyduck, he used water gun on the pokemorph, having a small glint on his face that he had some something right before looking confused again.
The watergun missed one of the oncoming charmanders who dodged out the way with ease, but the mud bashed into his face, sending his sprawling backwards. He clawed at his own face, scratching it with his own claws in an attempt to remove the mud. The second charmander lunged off a gravestone, claws outstreatched towards the growlith who was caught off guard, falling sideways and attacking out with his teeth.
By this time, the first Charmander had scratched away enough dirt to see, lumbering forward towards the Psyduck who watched.

Ardeo stared at the Psyduck for a moment, in something like irritation and frank confusion, "Alright, how about...Psyduck does nothing and stands behind me?" he muttered, turning to look at the Growlithe; against foes who resisted Fire-type moves, Ember was not a good idea. Roar didn't look like it would work here either. "Bite, I think, is all we have Growlithe..." he thought about it, trying to think of good 'not-quite-trainerly' advice he could give without sounding like too much of an idiot. "Try...Uh, trying getting it to slash the gravestones! Maybe that'll hurt it..Or, get it stuck so you can nail'm!" he nodded, thinking the Growlithe was smart and could handle himself for a few moments. "Good job, Wooper! Try to keep it back with Water Gun. If he gets too close; we're pretty sunk."

The Wooper fired another watergun at a charmander as it leaped towards her, letting out a scream right after and dasking behind Ardeo's leg for cover. The growlith dashed forward in her place, grinding his teeth on the tail of the charmander that was down.
The other charmander leaped on his back, scratching his long nails into on of his back legs. The growlith let out a yelp of pain before stumbling backwards.
<This isn't working! They're too strong.> The growlith yelled to the trainer, blowing embers from his mouth, <We need another plan.>
The ghost pokemon were making delighted swirls in the air.

Ardeo pondered, "Plan, plan..." never his strong suit, "Maybe try Roaring? Distraction? Wooper slam them with another Water Gun, but stay back. Psyduck, just, uh....I dunno. Stay safe." he tried to think of a better plan, but he didn't know these Pokemon like- 'Like I know mine! Shields doesn't have much experience with me, but...At least I stand on solid ground with him.' "Shields, go!" he took a Pokemon he had just clipped back to his belt only moments ago and let it fly- the beam releasing one of the two Shinx within. He had seen what was going on, and was ready to attack. "Leer!" soften up their defense, and then hit'm hard. The little gold starred Shinx took two fearless pawsteps forward (he was protecting his Trainer and sister after all), and glared with as much animosity as he could muster.

Both the charmanders leaped off of the growlith to attack the new pokemon, stopping short. Both of them look at one another, slightly intimidated by the blue and yellow pokemon.
The one on the right said something quietly to the one on the left, who nodded before blowing out pitch black gas from his throat. It shrouded around them instantly.
The Wooper didn't move, telling herself that now the Shinx was out, she didn't need to attack.

'Oh boy.' the Blaziken motioned for the Wooper to stay behind him, with the Psyduck, and watched the billowing smoke carefully. This was an interesting move Fire-types had, shrouding themselves in the thick black stuff- allowing them to slink in and out of it without a care and pick off Pokemon in and outside of it. "Steady, Sheilds." the Shinx watched the smokey veil with a panic, he couldn't fight what he couldn't see.... "Close your eyes, open your ears..." Ardeo murmured, and the Shinx- after a baffled look to his Trainer- silently obeyed, crouching in the pouncing cat-style, eyes lightly held closed and ears perked; hoping against all hope he would see and be able to counter the moves as they came.

The Wooper didn't need told twice. She wasn't really into fighting big scary pokemon, no matter what the type resistance was.
The charmander that produced the smoke traveled through it with ease, while the slightly weaker one stumbled through, trying not to ruin the fight for his older partner. He watched as, with assassin-like movements, the smoke-producing charmander leaped out of the cloud, clawing his sharp claws at the electric type.

"Now, up and Tackle!" ~Mrroowr!~ the kitten-like Pokemon snapped into action, bouncing up suddenly- attempting to rail his enemy in the stomache or be sliced across the back with those sharp claws. Ardeo watched, tense- this move could swing the battle into thier field if they got lucky enough. The confidence boost the Shinx needed was there....'C'mon....'

The move smacked into his stomach, sending him flying back. He stretched his claws out as he fell backwards, hoping to get a good slice in on the foe. His partner didn't intervene this time. Partly because he didn't know what was happening, and partly because he'd been asked not to interfere.

'Yes!' There was the ray of light in the tunnel! Though Sheild's hissed as the claws slashed into his body, it was the first hit he'd taken in a long time of traveling. He wasn't worn out from previous dancing with the other three random Pokemon. He was fresh and ready to conquer! "Keep it up, buddy!" with his side bleeding lightly, the blue lion sped forward, golden eyes narrowed to chase and Tackle his foe anew.

The move hit the oddly colored pokemon as he was trying to get his balance from the first attack, sending him backwards again. Instead of trying to get his balance, he rolled back into the now fading smokescreen. His partner could see now, and stumbled out of the fading screen of greyish purple, giving the other a break. He glanced back in time to see his friend slump back onto a tombstone, wondering if the payment he had received for the battle was even worth it. He was almost completely out, but he knew if he knocked out experience and confidence would be gained. The battle was too close for him to allow that.
