'Heh, thank goodness for Immunity...' "Keep your face shielded." "Zah." the Pokemon nodded, crossing his paws to keep his face protected from the sharp needles. The Cat-Ferret grinned, years of hate and mistrust with the Seviper would keep him safe from the poisonous effects of this move, at least. "Now, let's counter! Crush Claw!" "Guu." the white Pokemon shot forward, one claw raised high to deliver a 'crushing' blow.

Luke blinked, and then slapped a face to his hand. How could I forget that... they're immune." The Zangoose, being faster than Thorne, hit the Cacturne square on. He fell backwards, rolling up onto his feet and letting out a low growl of frustration. It had done a fair deal on him already. "Revenge, now!" Luke called out without hesitating, and the Cacturne spun, aiming for a sort of a tackle on the Zangoose. It was the only fighting move he knew, and a good one at least.

Kai blinked, and so did Zonko as the Cacturne dealt an amazing blow to the Zangoose. He flew to the side and slid on the floor, getting up slowly. "Zaan..." Kai narrowed his eyes, and grinned, "Well, we got a good move up our sleeve too, right Zonko?" he had wanted to save it, but the Revenge... Surely nearly half of Zonko's health was gone with that. "Let's get'm, X-Scissor!" "Zaygu!" The Shiny Zangoose hopped forward, and made an 'X' like slash at his foe. The only move they had that would be classed as 'Super Effective' against this foe. 'Man, I can't believe he caught me so off-guard. I need to wake up...'

Luke grinned a bit as Thorne hit, but the Cacturne hadn't been expecting another attack so fast. He was hit, and fell sideways before being hit the other way as well, tumbling sideways on the floor. The Blastoise pokemorph winced. Thorne stood up shakily, a little shocked by such a devastating hit. Man, his Zangoose knows so many moves... "Thorne, use Growth! Stay on your toes!" he called out, and the Cacturne nodded, seemingly growing a few inches all at once when he hadn't at all. But it raised his special attack at least, and so Luke waited, wondering what Kai's next move would be.

"Heh." Kai grinned, Zonko panted a little - but he too had a smirk on his face. At least the Special raise wouldn't make Revenge stronger. He had two options now, he could keep pressing him or plan for a long haul. And with Revenge in his pocket...Hm... ''We'll push it.' "Show'm your Brick Break, Zonko!" "Zan." with a leap the Zangoose raised his claw again, aiming to get a clear slash/chop across his foe's midsection.

"Dodge it!" Luke called, and the Cacturne slid out of the way early, though he barely avoided the attack. Luke scratched his head. He'd nearly underestimated the speed of those things. Now that he thought of it, a Zangoose was an extremely useful pokemon to have. "Absorb!" Thorne nodded, still panting as he used the attack, hoping it would hit. At least Growth would affect that move, and, hopefully get him some more energy back.

'Well, shoot.' Kai watched as Zonko continued forward a ways before sliding to a stop on all fours, turning to face the green menance with burning eyes. A green glow appeared around him, and he winced as he felt his health sapped further. 'We could be in trouble.' Kai thought for a moment before nodding to himself, they had to end this before he got too weak. "Give'm another X-Scissor!" "Zaaah!" Zonko shot forward on all fours, leaping up at last second to unleash the 'X' shaped move.

Luke frowned, watching as the Zangoose shot forwards again. For a moment, his mind went through two different possibilities- but when he'd finally excluded one of them, it was too late. "Dodge!" he called out, but Thorne didn't have time to get out of the way. Hit, he fell backwards. Come on Thorne, hang in there... Luke thought, clenching his teeth. By chance, however, the Cacturne fainted. Luke smiled in spite of the battle, taking out the pokeball and returning him in a flash of red light. Clipping the ball back to his belt, he looked back up towards Kai and his Zangoose. "That was a great battle. Thanks for that," he said, taking a few steps forwards now that the two pokemon weren't going at it anymore.

Kai couldn't help but blink in surprise. That was pretty lucky, they woulda been sunk had that Cacturne made it and used Revenge. Grinning, he returned the Zangoose to his capsule and walked towards Luke with shining eyes, "That was great, man I wish we could go all out. Man, we gotta get together sometime and have a full battle!" he held out his hand, "I'm Kai, by the way. I forgot to introduce myself before the battle."
{{ owo; Anyway, since Zonko is level 50 and had an amazing advantage, I think Thorne deserves this: Thorne gains 3 Levels! }}

(( )) Luke beamed, the enthusiasm catching onto him immediately. "I agree! Your Zangoose is amazing. He seems to have a better attitude than Thorne, there." He laughed a bit, and shook Kai's hand. A full battle with this guy would be one to remember. "I'm Luke, nice to meet you." He smiled, and then blinked, remembering something. "Oh yeah, when I first came over, I heard you say you were the Union Tower guy or something. Did you start it?" he asked, still curious about what he had overheard.

Novis watched the battle, glad he was finally free from everyone else's attention. Good thing I wasn't the one to accept the challenge, he thought, knowing his two young Pokemon could never stand up to anything anyone else had.
Still holding his punch, he floated over to who he believed to be White, the host of the party. Not sure what to say, Novis merely started the conversation with "That was quite a battle, though a bit one-sided..."

White glanced sideways at Novis, a bit surprised at what he said. "Really? Why d'ya think it was one sided?" he asked, truly curious. White himself thought it was quite a close match, and he smiled a bit as he watched Luke and Kai talk, before turning himself to look at the Magnemite pokemorph. "I thought it was really close, to be honest."

"It was close until Kai sent out a Zangoose." Novis watched the two battlers intently.
Realizing White would want more of an explanation, "Zangoose is nearly twice as fast if going by base stats, plus it had a vital level advantage. The two had the same base Defense, and X-Scissor is a stronger move. Although Revenge doubled in power, Cacturne only got to use it once, whereas Zangoose had the opportunity to strike with X-Scissor twice. Plus Absorb is the second-weakest health-sapping move in existence, so it really didn't save Cacturne, in spite of its boost from Growth. Luke would have been better off waiting for Zangoose to hit Cacturne and then using Revenge again, without ever bothering with Growth and Absorb in the first place."

White listened intently to what everything Novis said, and when the Magnemite was finished, he laughed. He hadn't been expecting such a rant.
"You watched that battle pretty closely then, eh? Well, what you said is true. But it wasn't one sided. The result of a battle is who wins, remember?" he stated, looking at the morph with a sideways glance, as they were both facing Luke and Kai. "Both of the pokemon were pretty tired by the end. And when it comes to Revenge and X-Scissor, the moves aren't equal, at all. Revenge, a Fighting move, is super-effective in the first place- but since it was used after an attack, it did double the damage. You could say it did 4 times the damage against the Zangoose, rather than just 2 times. X-Scissor, however, still only did twice the damage, as it was super-effective. He didn't need to use Revenge twice, and that's probably why he didn't." White stated. "It was mostly chance that the Cacturne fainted at the end, there. Plus, he was probably learning, too. I'm pretty sure Kai there has a lot more experience. Considering that, it was a close battle, in my books." he shrugged, smiling as he looked back at Novis. "And your name is?"

Novis invisibly smiled; he never would've expected such a warm reception from a Gym Leader. "True, although I never called Revenge and X-Scissor equal. X-Scissor is stronger when unboosted, and Cacturne's lower level hindered the power of most of its attacks, despite Revenge's doubled strength. There's no question that both moves were strong, since they both had a type advantage. There's no doubt in my mind that on that last turn, Luke was debating whether to use Revenge again." Novis knew he would have to talk to Luke about the battle later on as well.
He turned to face White. "It may have been chance, but the way the battle was going, it would have probably resulted in a loss for Luke anyway. Cacturne was too weak to survive two more rounds, even. Although when you put it that way, they were pretty evenly matched, but I'm almost surprised Luke managed to stay in it as long as he did. I don't doubt the experience of either of them."
Novis held out a magnet hand. "I'm Novis. Pleased to meet you."
