The Pokemon stared at him through his mental dilemma, not saying a word or moving until Scuro's mouth- and mind- were silent. The bird took a large breath, body expanding and feathers fluffing out, before responding. The words sounded not from his beak, but went immediately to the trainer's mind. 'I know you can speak to us, for the minds of the unguarded I can read. The thoughts of the weary Poocheynas long since warned me of a trainer I shall see.'
When there was silence, he withdrew from Scuro's mind, continuing to study him before adding vocally, <Now that the time for your explanation is near. Please tell me why is it that you are here?>

Having been spoken directly to his mind and then to his ears put him in more uneasy state of being. Now knowing he could hear and speak to this pokemon with understanding, Scuro spoke softly but with haste, "I was just searching for pokemon that would catch my eye and what better place than to go searching in a haunted mansion." Clearly Scuro was an innocent boy since he never sought to do harm to anyone or anything. He was always afraid of hurting others with the words or actions he might say or do towards others.
Furthermore Scuro added, "I just recently became a pokemon trainer and I wanted to become closer to pokemon,", although while saying this he felt something special about this bird. "Am I not supposed to be here," he asked quietly. Out of curiosity, he cautiously whipped out his pokedex, out of his back pocket, to see what this bird was.

Voice filled with indifference, the Pokemon began, 'It is not my place to keep you out, or to let you stay. Though some Pokemon feel disturbed by your presence here today.' As soon as the thoughts went silent, the Pokedex's loud mechanical voice began its short summary. HoothootA psychic-bird Pokemon, Hoothoots are nocturnal. Their eyes are powerful, allowing them to see through even the darkest of nights. Due to a special organ in their bodies, Hoothoot have a perfect sense of time, and will often hoot at the same time every day.<Nine.> He added evenly, studying the red device for a moment before looking back up at Scuro, <It is my favorite time.>

Now wondering about the pokemon within the confines of this haunted mansion, he said clearly, "Why do some pokemon feel disturbed by my presence?" Ezio was anxious to keep going, he stared at the Hoothoot's eyes and then shifted them towards Scuro. Scuro looked up at Ezio hovering above shoulder. Ezio spoke discretly <I dont trust this Hoothoot, he kinda creeps me out a liitle. First, speaking to you in mind and then out loud.>
Scuro spoke to Ezio, "What would you have me do, the pokemon here are disturbed by me so he says." Ezio replied <I would try to have some fun, lets battle him!> Hearing that it was nine o'clock and that it was his favorite time sent shivers up his arm. He thought hard and then sent Ezio to attack with his long pinkish tongue hanging out for it next victim.

The Hoothoot didn't move, instead choosing to watch the attacker advance on him with his round red eyes. As Ezio got close, they glowed a more prominent red, and a rush of psychic energy surged towards him with the Hypnosis. He made no attempt to escape the move he knew would have no effect.
'The reason I get along so well here, you see', the bird began to think to Scuro, 'Is because regardless of if the ghosts here like me, they can't hurt me.'

Ezio rushing to his own demise as he feels the psychic waves go through his eyes. There he floated, peacefully as he was lulled to sleep by the Hoothoot that had shown no fear. Scuro had no idea that Ghost moves had no effect on this Hoothoot; he decided that he would have to learn more about pokemon if he was to get ahead. For that he would need to talk to people which was not his forte but he had to learn.
He tried waking up Ezio by telling him to wake up. Then he shouted Ezio use Hypnosis. Nothing happened and there he floated endlessly through the dark room.

There was a silence as the Trainer struggled to awaken his Pokemon. The Hoothoot kept his grip on the other's mind, however, and the Ghost type did not move. He continued to study them, until it was clear to everyone that things would be running on his terms.
'Quite the irrational one, you are.' He began, large red eyes clear and on Scuro, 'You have a lot to learn by far. Perhaps it is more wise for you to study. Learn what you are attacking so you are more lucky.'
He lifted a wing and began to run his beak along his feathers, grooming himself as he continued. 'It is unwise to go into a battle that blind. Perhaps you should not simply charge at all Pokemon you find.

Ezio hearing his friend calling out through the darkness, slowly opened his eyes to realize he was in the same position as before. <What just happened Kevin?! Did I get attacked> Scuro looked down solemnly at the floor while answering, "Return Ezio, none of your moves will hit this pokemon, Return." Ezio seeing the bright flash of red, had no choice but to listen and returned.
Scuro thought about what Hoothoot had said and was deciding what he should do before letting Celia out. "Now or never," he said to himself. He didn't want to back down, irrational he may have been but he would learn. "Celia, Come on out!" Celia feeling refreshed and ready to help, sharpened her claws on the panel floor that was already looking to fall apart.
After this battle, Scuro would have to become a better trainer so he did not endanger his pokemon or himself. He had friends now...

He was unsurprised by the new Pokemon, aware it was to be released before the red beam shot out of the Pokeball. As they had before, his eyes glowed a bright red, as he aimed yet another Hypnosis in the other's direction. He had no interest in fighting, but if this trainer insisted...
'I guess my words of wisdom have been rejected' he cooed, voice lacking the condescending edge that seemed like it should be accompanying,'I suppose a battle will always be expected. I do hope one day strategy is not so neglected'

"Again another Hypnosis move", Scuro told Celia. Celia was all too familiar with this kind of attack; she felt as if the psychic waves didn't quite reach her and missed. This is were she sought out an opening quickly rushing in zigzag motion, Celia lunged forward with a Scratch attack. Her claws shone in the moonlight coming from the window just behind and to the left of Scuro.

The Hoothoot hopped once, turning his back on them as the other charged at him. The next hop, he spread his wings and soared out of the window. He did a large circle in the air, bright eyes penetrating the darkness to keep a close eye on the trainer and Pokemon through the window as he did.
With a sudden lurch in that direction, he dove back through it, beak glittering with a Peck attack. 'I am sorry my warning you did not heed, perhaps it is another tactic I need.'

Celia saw as the Hoothoot circled about, then honing in for the attack. Quickly jumping to the ceiling and latching on with her claws, she saw the Hoothoot. "Celia, use Leer!," Scuro shouted. Celia widened her gaze as she used Leer. Her diamond-like eyes glazed over and then returned to their normal clear color once she had finished.

The wave of weakness filled the bird, though his battle patters did not change. Still taking advantage of his ability to fly, he made a constricted circle in the small room and aimed another Peck at his opponent. This time, he sent thoughts to her mind, hoping to startle her out of dodging. 'Why do you fight for your trainer's pride? If he cared, he would push it aside.' He asked, voice soft, despite him flying fast in her direction.

<Why do I fight for him?> she said while evading the peck attack seeing as how closed off the room was, <Simple, he is my friend and he cares for his friends.> Celia was not going to let her guard down an inch seeing as how Hoothoot was trying to disturb her train of thought. Scuro shouted, "Alright Celia, use Scratch attack!" Celia putting her claws together crisscrossed, then quickly separating them apart making a loud sound as if they were blades being sharpened on a grindstone, she lunged forward with the utmost precision hoping to land the attack.

The bird Pokemon was less lucky the second time around, the swipe ripping several feathers out of his side and making him dip a little lower. He landed on the windowsill again, hopping to face them.
He pause for a moment , no longer willing to try talking his way out of this one. Reasoning with battle-driven trainer was far from productive. After a few moments, his wing ached a little less and he hopped forward and aimed another Peck at the Sableye.
