Ardeo was just getting ready to sit back and chill out, let Tekken do his crazy thing, when suddenly the Hoothoot rounded on him. "Whoa, hey!" he cried, dodging to the side when a wave of sound came flying at him, "What gives!?" Pokemon were supposed to attack other Pokemon. Being a Morph shouldn't mean that the Hoothoot felt entitled to attack him. At the very least; the Uproar being centered on him woke Tak up with a start, ~What the-?~ he looked around from the safety of Ardeo's arms, as the trainer was doing his best to dodge the shaky Hoothoot's sound blasts. ~Hey!~ he growled, shaking a fist at the Flying-type. He opened up his mouth and shot out a blast of Embers toward the round owl. Tekken, seeing Tak shoot flames toward the wild Pokemon withdrew into his little rock with a soft, spiteful, laugh; finding his fun spoiled by the fiery lizard.

He was feeling outnumbered, and when the Ember hit him, he felt the Critical Hit eat quickly away at his health. The bird was fluttering around hectically now, the Confusion not completely worn off and red tinging the edges of his tail and wing feathers. He could maybe handle one more attack. Or...
He dived. Not at Ardeo, not at Tekken's rock, and not at Tak. Instead, he swooped and gathered the Dustox in his talons before flapping his heavy wings and gaining air once more, not willing to be fried during his escape. This was all for a meal, and even though a Venipede would have filled more of his stomach, the Dustox would do just fine. With a few flaps, he was heading out towards the forest.
Suddenly, a torrent of fire stopped him in his path, sending both him and his insect feast tumbling to the forest floor. The Pokemon that caused the fire seemed to stop and look over at the trainer and his Charmander, though the features of it were unclear. The shadowy silhouette resembled a dog, and it's ears perked forward in a curious way as it stared. With an abrupt howl, it turned its back on them and lunged deeper into the trees, as if beckoning them to follow.

Ardeo ducked when he saw the Hoothoot dive, covering Tak up (who only complained a little at the action). After waiting a heartbeat, he tilted his head and opened an eye slowly to see what was going on. And was surprised to see...The Hoothoot flying away, "Wha-HEY!" he raised a fist, waving waiting far too long for Tak's Ember to reach the bird Pokemon, he was disappointed...All that work for- Holycrapwhatwasthat. It was a column of fire. A column. That...was...Flamethrower and it was totally the coolest thing ever. At the howl he jumped, Ardeo had been staring at the shadow-y figure with something akin to complete adoration and love. He shook his head, smiling wildly. "We're following it." he declared, pulling a Pokeball out and returning the rock Tekken had retreated to. ~...wut~ "Come on Tak!" he had to find out what Pokemon had used that move, what Pokemon was so gracious enough to just stop on in. He started after the shadowed Pokemon, moving at a light jog, with Tak settled between his arms. The Charmander was trying to desperately talk his trainer out of it; but. There was no stopping an Ardeo that was Determined.

The pitter pattering of paws could be here for a moment ahead of them, before the sound stopped. It left them a bit aways from the clearing, almost backtracking towards the Ghost Forest. The trees that closed in around them shielded both the trainer and his fire-type from the bright moon, leaving them in severely dimmer lighting. Whatever it was had lead them there, and was now watching them several feet away in the safety of some bushes.
There was a low growl from the brush, and with a sudden lurch, the dog emerged, though did not offer enough time for him to get a good look. Dashing at the trainer in a silver and blue blur, the Pokemon did one final leap and tackled Ardeo to the leaf-covered ground. She loomed over him, her eyes narrowed.
Is it him? Is it? She pressed her nose into his chest, inhaling his scent, her bunched muscles slowly loosening as she did so. He did... smell like him. And she could practically feel the fire inside him, that other trainers simply did not have. It had to be him. At least, she wanted it to be.
<Do you remember me?> She demanded after her unique nose interrogation, her voice equally as bold as her behavior. Though her original defensive stance was long lost, and her usually strict Houndour eyes were wide with an expression similar to worry, she would not let her guard down.

Tak fell silent as they entered the little clearing, and felt like the trees were leaning in closer to them. ~Ardeo, come on...~ he was peering around nervously, very unhappy with how close they were getting to going back into that dreadful forest. Luckily, Ardeo did stop. But, to Tak's horror, so had the shadow they had been chasing. He fell silent, as Ardeo began to walk with a little more caution. The growl had set him a little on edge, but he was still pretty Determined. And then suddenly, he was on his back. Tak went tumbling out of his arms and was replaced swiftly with the body of...A blue dog? He blinked, coughing a little, and looked harder. A blue...Houndour. He couldn't help but chuckle a little at her invading nose, and squirmed a little as she nose-poked him. He was opening his mouth to reply, his eyes soft with remorse. He was pretty sure he would remember an amazing Houndour, but Tak cut him off. After dragging himself out of the brush the Charmander glowered at the dog, ~Hey!~ he stomped over, earlier fears left behind and replaced with indignance, ~That's my Trainer!~

She took his lack of response, and Tak's insensitive comments to mean no. She backed off of him, separating herself a couple feet from the duo before sitting. They didn't remember her. Or, maybe she had the wrong trainer. But when she looked him up and down, she knew she didn't. After all, what were the odds of another flame-filled trainer with a Charmander? ((Yeah Kai, what are the odds? ))
<Nevermind. I am sorry for interrupting your battle.> She said quietly, turning to look into the darkness of the trees, <It seems you are the wrong group. Or perhaps the Ghosts wiped your minds. My apologies trainer. Charmander.> She nodded her head at each of them and tried to hide the evident hurt and disappointment from her features. Though the latter of the two feelings was understandable, she shouldn't feel hurt over a forgotten adventure. <The trainer I remember said he'd come for me. I will continue to wait.>
With that she turned her back on him, and began heading back into the forest. She couldn't get his familiarity off her nose, however, and she stopped, looking back. <Also, if it was you, maybe your Charmander would be a little more grateful to one of his rescuers.> With a small bow, she began to head off once more.

When she mentioned waiting it was almost like someone had turned a little key in his mind. "Wait!" he sat up, grinning at her, "I do!" though he had forgotten that she was waiting for him in the Dark Meadow. Tak was looking between the two of them with confusion. He'd never really gotten the full story...To him, it was like he took one big long nap. "I..." Ardeo's expression drooped, "I'm sorry." it didn't change the fact that he had forgotten. In fact, if it weren't for this noble Houndour and that kind-hearted Growlithe, Ardeo would probably still be in that hellish maze. He bowed his head at her, and with a wounded heart, continued on with, "This is the Charmander we were trying to rescue. And Tak, this is one of the wonderful Pokemon I met in the Maze - and without her, I might not have ever found you." he smiled, soft and sad, he couldn't believe he forgot. Did the Ghosts mess with his head before they sent him back or was he just a bad friend? ~I...uh...~ the Charmander shook his head, and then bowed, ~I'm sorry, I. I had no idea. D-don't go.~ he reached a claw forward, stepping a few feet towards the retreating Pokemon.

She stopped immediately on 'Wait', turning her head to look at him. Did he remember her now? Or was he just attempting to win over a gullible shiny Houndour by pretending to know? But then again... that fire. Her ears perked at maze. Had she mentioned a maze? She turned as Tak started towards her, her eyes going from distrustful to a wide excitement as he spoke. And there was even a hint of guilt as well, looking at his apologetic face. <So you do remember!> She stepped forward, unsure at this point what to do with all her excitement. She really wasn't a jump-in-your-lap-and-lick-your-face kind of canine, but something inside her begged to be let out. She bounced on her paws, and then with an excited whine she padded towards them. <I am unsure what to do now.> She finally voiced, her excitement evident, <I am happy to see you but I am not one to customarily wipe my tongue on your face like other dog-types.> She sat, tail wagging and wishing she had a way to express herself that wasn't quite so foolish.

"Yes! Yes, I remember now!" he said, smiling at her, and then opening his arms wide, "Just give me a hug, you! I'm so happy you're okay!" and then because he remembered her, he remembered the rest of the rescue party as well. The Growlithe, most memorably. He had to find the others. And soon. Where did they say they were? A city of kind, he thought. But some of the memories were still blurred and fuzzy.
Tak stood a little off, feeling awkward. He really did feel sorry. And he felt even worse that he hadn't known. He knew it wasn't his fault for not knowing, but. He couldn't help be feel like it was his fault for getting kidnapped in the first place. And he had been happy not remembering that horrible ordeal.

She was all too eager to accept this request. It was still mildly uncharacteristic, but if she told herself it was a command from her new trainer instead of a ritualistic gesture, it became okay. With an excited bounce she plopped herself onto his lap and into his arms, leaning her head on one of his shoulders and letting out an excited whine. Her tail was crushed in this position, but that didn't stop her from wiggling slightly as if it was wagging.
<Now I can accompany you through your journey and battle by your side and together we can find everyone else!> She insisted excitedly, hoping that his reunion reminded him of his promise to all of them, <And I will have my rightful place under a trainer who is brave enough to actually rescue his Pokemon when they need it.> Instead of her old one. She felt bitter at the thought, but soon brushed it away to revel in the current instead. Ardeo was a much better trainer, anyways.

Ardeo hugged the Houndour close for a long moment, and even when he released her he let her stay right on his lap. "Right!" he nodded, suddenly turning serious. "We'll find the rest of them, together." he grinned over at Tak, and the Charmander couldn't help but feel caught up in the moment. ~Yeah!~ he nodded, waving his flame-tipped tail back and forth to illustrate that he, too, was eager to find her other friends. ~Do you have a name?~ he took a few steps closer, she was part of the family now, after all. And it would seem to him Ardeo either couldn't remember her name or never thought to ask...Or she didn't have one. Ardeo was looking thoughtful, trying to pull out the data he needed from his mind...And coming up short. He just couldn't remember...Just a hopeful face and a faint "We'll be waiting!" ... "Oh! I don't have any Poke'balls right now." he scratched the back of his head, snapping out of his reverie and looked back at the Houndour.

She found the comment about Pokeballs almost funny. That was the last thing on her mind, and as far as she could tell, the least of their concerns. She voiced none of this, simply nodding her head and stating, <That is fine, I will simply walk with you until you acquire one that you wish to use.> She wished she had her old trainer's Pokeball to give, but she had no such luck.
The shiny Houndour thought back to her old trainer now, pondering the question. She'd been called something. She wasn't in his possession for very long, and that was a while ago... <Violet.> She finally said, the short tone her voice took clearly showing her disapproval, <Though I'd prefer something better. I don't like being reminded of that fiasco.> Not to mention the name never really felt... fitting. Though that could have been due to the limited amount of time she had spent with it.
She looked up, eyeing a Venonat that was leaning over the branch above them to watch whatever it was that was going on. <Also, I do believe you have a bird somewhere. In case you wanted to try and find it. And whatever it was trying to eat.> She said, referring to the battle she had interrupted.

Ardeo frowned, wrapping his arms around his legs, "Violet isn't dignified enough for you." (to which Tak shot an imediate look toward his trainer. "Dignified"? Did that word really come out of his Trainer's mouth?) the Blaziken morph was nodding his head, staring at the shiny Houndour intently. After a heartbeat or two he hopped up, straightened himself out and tossed the dog Pokemon a big grin, "How about, Ava?" it was the first dignified named he'd thought of. Or, at least it sounded pretty fancy to him. 'Bird?' "Oh! Oh right! Shoot." he'd been so distracted by his old and new friend that he'd totally forgotten about it. Maybe it was...just a mental thing he had going on? 'Maybe I'm crazy... he shook his head, "Right, so. Let's all go check and see if it's even still around and then, uh. Then we'll figure out where we're going from there." with that said, the boy turned and headed back where they'd come, assuming both of his fire-type friends would be behind him.
