It wasn't long before he was completely surrounded in black smog. The move wasn't foreign to him, having faced a Koffing or two in this Dark Meadow. Without skipping a beat, his tendrils began to whip out, writhing protectively around him. They began latching onto trees and various other things, attempting to snag the lizard. If he could just get one wrapped around him, the others would quickly follow in a Constrict.
The Burn sapped the health he had previously gained from the Absorb, making him cringe. His determination to humiliate this Pokemon by causing him to lose against a grass type, however, was far stronger than any physical pain.

Ardeo was a little surprised when he saw the tendrils reaching out of the cloud, wrapping around nearby trees and rocks; Questing for the lizard. 'Ah.' he nodded, "Be careful Tak; you gotta time this right." he hoped the Charmander understood him - if they could time it right, when the vines found him he would know exactly where the source was once they tightened. It would put them in something of a bad spot, but compared to Confusion the move would be a cake-walk to handle.
The Fire-type nodded, he had a slight visual advantage. He closed his eyes, waiting for the tendrils to snake around his legs - he inhaled and was prepared to fling fire as soon as he felt a tug.

There was absolutely no way for him to see, so he tugged on various things, thinking they were the Charmander, only to realize it was a stump or a rock. His tendrils slithered across the ground, shifting this way and that before finding something warm. He tapped it once very softly, and felt the heat radiating from whatever it was. Must be that damn fire type. Quickly, he wrapped a tendril around Tak, overlapping at least twice with as tight of a grip as he could manage before yanking. Hard.

As the vines wrapped around his ankles and snaked up, Tak whipped his head in the direction the pull came from and let loose a barrage of flames as quickly as possible - before he felt his back connect with the ground as the tendrils pulled. "Char!" his head was already in pain, but he felt it multiply when he hit the ground, and stars filled his vision. Grass-types were only just below Ghost-types on Tak's list of Pokemon-types he hated on sight now.

The move burned, and the health was sapped away so quickly that it sent him stumbling again. His grip on the Charmander tightened as he tried to lift him again and slam him down, but the attempt was half-hearted, and he probably hardly managed to do damage.
The Constrict loosened, and he didn't even bother to retract the blackened tendril this time, letting it lie on the ground, along with several others that had been attached to trees. He was breathing hard, and the instant the Burn ate at him once more, he couldn't stay on his feet, knocked out cold.
Tak gained one level!

Ardeo fist pumped in the air, bouncing up a little. One step closer to being the better rival, yes. "Nice job, Tak!" the Charmander turned, pretty pleased with himself, and meandered back over to his trainer - climbing up onto his usual spot of being draped over the backpack in a state of rest. The trainer considered the passed out Tangela for a moment, before shaking his head. He really didn't want to even attempt to deal with this creature, and so he contented himself with gently moving it towards the rock where it might have some shelter against anything that might...Well, does anything really prey on a Tangela? ...He shrugged. Better safe than sorry. After he was done with that, he would set out again. He needed to find some more opponents so Tak could evolve; then he could work on some of his other members.

The forest was quiet now, as if holding its breath to allow Ardeo to leave before bustling with life again. It seemed nothing would appear before a strange series of events took place. A pale-colored Dustox came into view, flying erratically before hitting a tree full force. It fell to the ground, landing draped across a shrub, and scaring a Venipede to revel itself. The purple Pokemon scurried into the clearing, clearly having no idea what hit it. A bird cawed from above them in a tree, causing the Pokemon to freeze before a rather large Hoothoot struck the ground immediately beside it before swooping higher staring down at them. It was clear it was about to attempt another grab.

Ardeo was full of disappointment at the silence that followed after the battle with the ball of weeds. 'Well, crap.' he put a hand on his hip and was about ready to trudge off again when he saw the Dustox slam into a tree. He blinked, leaning to watch a strange purple thing roll out. "Wha..." and then the Hoothoot arrived. Well, that was better than a purple thing he didn't feel like lookin up. And on the plus side, Hoothoots were kinda boss. "Tak! C'mon, we got work to do!" the lizard nodded, flexing his claws a few times before taking a fighting stance. "Rock Throw!" Tak hopped up, slamming his claws at the ground until chunks of rocks flew upwards, which he preceded to hit with his tail toward the offending avian.

The bird was smashed by one of the rocks on his way back down to snatch the Pokemon, clearly not having expected anything else to attack. With a resonating hoot, he tumbled from the sky. Just short of hitting the ground, however, he pulled himself back, soaring just a foot off the surface towards Tak. His red eyes shone a prominent red as he used Hypnosis, sending the surge of Psychic power in waves towards his opponent.

Ardeo stared blankly for a second. 'I totally forgot Hoothoots could do that.' He shook his head, turning to Tak. Who was...asleep. Curled up like a large orange and brown-striped stone. "Chaaaar..." he was smiling in his sleep, unlike his trainer. "Cheap." he trotted over to the lizard, pulling out a Poke'ball as he did so. "Alright, let's see how you like this. Tekken!" he tossed it up, releasing a Spiritomb...Who started to cackle maniacally. "Use Spite!" ~Heheheheheehehehe!~ the Ghost pokemon rolled his one eye, before staring at the Hoothoot in a creepy manner. While his crazy Ghost/Dark-type was battling, Ardeo scooped up the sleeping Charmander, and sighed. Should have maybe picked a fight with that weird purple thing.

The bird eyed the new opponent, feeling like the sudden change was a cheap move. Trainers... During the thought, the attack surged through him. He didn't know what it did, but he was unsure if he could summon another Hypnosis at that very moment. Pity, because if he could he'd probably have enough time to at least swipe the weird Dustox and be off with it.
With a loud call, he swooped low and got a good glimpse of his opponent. Whatever it was, it looked like a ghost. Foresight was for ghosts, wasn't it? With a twist in the air, his already red eyes began to glow a more prominent color. After the light expanded, a beam finally shot towards the Spiritomb, and he swiftly pulled himself back up to see what had happened.
The ghosts usually stayed in the forest, so he'd never actually had the chance to use the move.

Ardeo narrowed his eyes at the move- he couldn't see anything different with Tekken but...That didn't mean something didn't happen, "Okay, Tekken use-!" the Spiritomb (though still cackling a little madly) was already in motion. Since the Hoothoot deemed to fly in the sky, Tekken rolled his eye and it began to glow a steady purple before he released a swirling beam at the brown bird Pokemon, "Ye...yeah, okay. Use Confuse Ray....!" Ardeo stared at the Ghost Pokemon in what was almost disdain as Tak slept in his arms. ~Kehehehehehe....!~

From his eye vantage point, the bird studied the opponent. Creepy expression still intact, still as close to sane as he always was, still awake, no burn damage, no poison damage. Well damn. If a Hoothoot could really have an expression, his would have displayed exactly how unimpressed he was.
He was busy studying his victim when the Confuse Ray hit. His vision went askew, and he fluttered in infrequent patterns, resembling an angry Combee buzzing around. His eyes located not one, but two or three of the ghost type now, and he tried hard to shake the feeling off.
<Cheap shot, again!> He called unevenly to one of the identical trainers below him. The frustration that had been building finally burst inside of him, and he started an Uproar, opening his beak and sending angry pitches of calls at the ground. He aimed at everything, the trainers, the ghosts, and the unconscious Dustox still on the bush. Some of the noises even hurt his own ears, making the move even more powerful as his anger increased.

It was at that point Ardeo saw something that would possibly give him nightmares for the rest of his life. Tekken smiled. It was a mad-crazy smile; but he was grinning one very wide green smile - and it was very disturbing. ~Kehehehehehe....!~ he whirled around a few times, before spiking out some; and then he shot forward using Faint Attack- cackling all the way. The Uproar didn't seem to phaze him much, but it was making slices at him - he just powered through them. Ardeo blinked a few times, before remembering he was the trainer, "...Faint Attack..." he mumbled; though Tekken was already very much so in motion. Tak continued to sleep.

The Hoothoot had no way of avoiding the attack, much too confused to fly straight anywhere. This move was clearly not doing much, as the opponent had hardly even hesitated. He found himself unable to stop once he started his Uproar, so he switched targets, instead. Maybe if the trainer surrendered, so would the Pokemon it owned.
He came at Ardeo, fluttering in uneven patterns with his Confusion. He tried to keep the attack centered on the human, but it was hard when there was suddenly more of them. Not to mention occasionally his own noise hurt him, which certainly did nothing to help the growing headache he was beginning to acquire.
