Aron glanced at the pokeball in his hand. His ralts had wanted a break from talking and walking, so he had called the pokemon back into the ball. He felt unsure and small as he walked along the path. He kept glancing around as if something would jump out and attack him at any moment. When nothing did, he regained himself and continued walking. This routine carried on until finally he stopped, staring ahead at the long long road. This wasn't as excited as the thought it'd be...

Up ahead, water could be seen on the trail- it looked almost like a mirage, but there were things floating on top of it. Upon further inspection, it was easy to tell that it was a cluster of little spider-ish bug pokemon, with cute, happy faces and eager chirps as they chased each other around on top of the water, enjoying their ability to float so easily on the surface. As Aron approached, one by one they began to notice him, and finally each and every single one of them was sitting there in the water, staring up at him, blinking now and ten. A Masquerain floated out- it was obvious it was of a rather high level, though it was obvious that it had no intentions of attacking the trainer. <What's happening here?> it buzzed in confusion, looking down at the Surskits. <What is he?> they chorused. <A trainer.> the Masquerain stated, glancing up at Travis once more before looking back at the Surskits. <What is a trainer?> <They're humans who travel with pokemon to face gyms and explore the region.> the Masquerain sighed. It was obvious that personally, he didn't enjoy the idea. Some of the Surskits, however, exchanged glances eagerly and moved closer to Aron, while the others shook their little heads and moved away. <H- hello!> one little Surskit finally ventured out to say. The others seemed to gasp. It was a big deal. They were young. Another one joined in. <Hi!> <Hey!> <How- how are you?> <Do you like bugs?> <Are you afraid of heights?> <Tell us about the world!> they were all crowding around Aron now, with the Masquerain using a water sport to keep them from having to step on the stones that made up the trail. Aron was late when he entered into their thoughts to try and figure out if they were talking to him. His deaf ears hadn't alerted him of their questions until the very end few. 'How- how are you?' 'Do you like bugs?' 'Are you afraid of heights?' 'Tell us about the world.' He blinked, dropping his pokeball next to him so that the ralts could come out. The small kid-like pokemon looked at the other pokemon, easily detecting his trainer's unease. "Hello." Aron and Kalil both said together, before Aron continue on, "I'm good. I don't mind bugs, and I don't like heights too much, why?" He frowned. He had missed a question, but what was it. "Oh! And I don't know about the world yet. Do you?"

The surskits at the front sighed in relief, looking to the Ralts momentarily, but their gazes wavered before they turned back to Aron. <Good thing you don't mind bugs!> <We're bug types, you know!> <Really good pokemon! We like to travel the world like trainers!> Hint, hint. The pokemon weren't very good at hiding their intentions. The Masquerain frowned slightly, wings fluttering slowly as it looked up at Aron, obviously not impressed by the trainer or it's pokemon, though it continued with a peaceful attitude. <Why don't you like heights?> <Have you ever fallen?> <We don't fall, cause-> <We're so close to the ground!> <And no-> <We don't know about the world.> <Yet!> The Surskit that had said "Hello" first piped up. It was smaller than the others, who looked at it disapprovingly and shoved themselves to the front of the puddle once more.

It was the ralts who spoke up next. <You guys don't actually fly though, do you? Don't you secret a sort of oil from your feet that allows you to sort of walk on the water? Could you do that on land?> Aron had no idea how his ralts knew so much about the small bug pokemon, but was clearly impressed by Kalil's knowledge. <I have never falled.> <Fallen.> <Right, fallen. I just never really flew, so I wouldn't know if I'm afraid of heights. I'm going to try and learn more about the world. To be honest, this is as far as I've gone from my house. Every step is a record for me, so I hope it'll be fun.>

<Nope, we don't fly, we float, cause we're special!> the Surskits giggled to themselves. <And we all wanna be Masquerains one day like our big cousin Ollie!> The Masquerain frowned immediately, looking down at the ground and avoiding making eye contact with the trainer. It was obvious it hated it's name. There was an awkward pause, and the Surskit who had said that turned beat red. A Surskit next to it glared at him and lifted one little arm, hitting the other like a light slap. <Nice going. You know he hates his name.> <Yeah, well, Ollie is lucky he has a name!> it was the smaller Surskit again. <None of us have names! I would so love a name, too...> it sighed dreamily. The others exchanged glances and then decided they agreed with it this time, and then they all began to converse about what names they would like. The Masquerain, "Ollie", flew up to Aron and Kilali. <So. Do you want to take one with you on your journey?> it sighed, looking expectantly to Aron. <I don't agree with trainers myself, but I can respect the fact that you're beginning and that the Surskit here seem to admire you.>

<Admires me?> Aron asked, peaking around one of the small bug pokemon to look at the littlest one. He didn't know he had done anything worth admiring. <If you want to come, you can.> He said finally, to the small Sirskit, <And I'd bet we could give you all names. Sounds like fun, and I have a few up my sleeve. I'm sure I could find a few that you would like.>

The Surskit all gasped at once. Each and every one of their little eyes went from Aron down to the little Surskit, who beamed. For a moment it looked like the others would gang up on him, but they celebrated him, and at the mention of them all getting names, they all gasped one more. It was as if all the oxygen in the area would be taken up by them alone. <NAMES!?> they squealed. <WE GET NAMES WE GET NAMES!> they yelled out, their voices surprisingly grand for such small pokemon. The smallest one went forwards a bit. <Can- can I really come with you?>

Aron and Kalil exchanged glances, clearly surprised that these pokemon felt so highly of a name. He was a little worried that they expected something magical to happen once they had one, and would later be infuriated when something amazing didn't happen. <Hrm.. Alright. What do you like to do? What would you like your name to relate to? See, names mean a lot of things. Kalil, here.. for example, his name means friend.> Kalil spoke up now. <So, if we were to name.. you.> He nodded his head to the little surskit, <You seem like you're adventurous, but looked down on because you're very little, but you wish you could do as much, if not more than anyone else.> <Taru. It means small.> <Tuari means young.> <Akihiko means bright child.> They both paused, trying to think of other names, and give him some time if he liked any of the ones they threw out.

The Surskit wondered for a moment what he liked best. Each one was so amazing... <Well, I don't like small as much... and I'm not young, I'm just as old as all of these Surskits... but I like Akihiko!> the Surskit beamed, and the other Surskit all surrounded him as if it was some sort of a ritual. <Akihiko, Akihiko, Akihiko!> they chanted. Ollie glanced down to the side, and the little Surskit- now dubbed Akihiko- crawled up Aron with it's little spindly legs, and whispered in his ear. <Hey- can you give Ollie a new name too? I think he's jealous, and, well, if you did- he'd like you a lot and probably be more friendly to trainers as well!>

Aron laughed, feeling excited that his first expirience with pokemon had come out so wonderfully. <Yeah, sure.> Him and his partner started throwing out names just like they had with the small Surskit. <Keene and Aldan. They both mean wise.> <Yeah, and Rais means leader.> <Haha. We could mix them together to mean Wise Leader.> <Do names even work that way?> <I have no idea.> <Keo?> <Kaldan, Aleene, Raidan> They seemed to have forgotten they were coming up with a name, clearly having a competition to see who could come up with a nicer made up one.

The Masquerain glowed as it pondered over the names that had been suggested. Kaldan was too regular...Aleene would have been ok if Ollie was a girl...Raiden was ok, but still... <How- how about- Raikeene?> the Masquerain suggested hesitantly. The Surskits all turned from the Masquerain to Aron. Akihiko settled a bit more on the trainer's shoulders, looking expectantly at him as well.

Aron obviously didn't take much note of the silence, and blurted out very obliviously, <That's a cool name! I wish I thought of it.> His pokemon was nodding his approval, and then said, <Here, we can name a few water-related names, too. A few of them are really cool, and since you guys hang out around the water, you might like them> <Hm.. Calder and Mizu.> <There's Kendra.> <That's not very original.> <I like it..> <Misu?> <What the heck does that mean?> <Oh don't' even. You're just trying to be difficult.> Aron glowered at his pokemon before the two started chuckling to themselves, feeling a little embarrassed arguing in front of a crowd.

<Raikeene, Raikeene, Raikeene!> they chanted, swirling around the Masquerain happily. As Aron and his pokemon came up with more names, however, they turned back to the trainer and his pokemon and listened intently for ideas. The Surskit giggled to each other in spite of the trainer and his Ralts arguing. <I like Mizu!> <An' I like Kendra!> one of them piped up. <Yeah. For us, any name is really original, cause we've never really heard any!> <Can I be Calder?> <...Can- can I be named after you?> another shy one said quietly, smiling. <I'm Mizu's twin, I wanna be Misu!> another one called out, hopping up on top of the surface of the water happily.

Aron laughed, feeling all the thoughts cheer his spirits. It really was a great way to start off a journey. <You guys can have any of the names you want.> He laughed, <I hope you like them. I believe someone wanted to join me.> He glanced around, trying to find that surskit.
