There was still dirt in her eyes, and when Rowan asked for another Absorb, the Oddish simply let loose without of an attempt on aiming. She felt embarrassed by the attack, knowing it would take nothing short of a miracle for it to actually hit something. Frustrated, she blinked repeatedly to try and get the grime from her eyes, hoping he didn't double layer it with yet another sand attack.
Rowan said nothing besides her one-word attack commands. If the Pidgey knew Gust, this battle would be short-lived. If the Pokemon didn't even know how to fly properly... She could hardly expect it to know how to control the element that did him in when they met.

The wild bird let out a huff at the Oddish, spreading his wings and giving a few wing beat; hopping over the Absorb (though landing a little shakily). As soon as his claws hit the dirt, he went toward the Grass-type like an arrow with a battle cry. "Piiiiiiiggey!" he was all sorts of determined to show this trainer he was better than his previous landing. ...Maybe he wasn't the best Pidgey out there, but he was at least better than this weird round thing. It had no wings! How useful would that be?

The Oddish had finally managed to scrape most of the dirt from her face with a leaf. She shook herself and glared at him through narrowed slits, opening them as wide as possible with the frustrating discomfort of the sand still around them. As soon as she saw him, the Pidgey was on her. She fell back on contact, her feet leaving the ground as she plopped down behind her old spot.
Rowan was actually surprised that the wild Pokemon could sequence his moves in a way that was actually a challenge to battle against. She had expected him to go on all offense, and targeting Accuracy was a little more advanced than she'd expect from an untrained, temperamental creature.
As Rowan silently contemplated, her Pokemon got to her feet. She was mildly annoyed now, though her gentle nature made legitimate anger impossible. With a huff, she shook the dirt off her leaves. She was prepared to launch another energy-draining attack when Rowan called, "Sweet Scent, you don't want him to have the advantage." She switched gears immediately, shaking her leaves and producing a sweet smelling pink powder that quickly dispersed into the area around them.

The wild Pidgey bounced back after his successful hit - expecting return fire to his offensive attack. His wings were spread wide with pride in his abilities so far; though he was rather impressed himself. 'Who would have thought a little plant could last this long' he flicked his eyes to Rowan. Wondering if perhaps this trainer was the source from which the Oddish drew power. He'd heard Pokemon who travel with trainers are much stronger than Pokemon like himself, living free and in the wild.
He snapped back to his senses when a sweet scent rolled past him. Without even realizing it, he lowered his wings some, tilting his head at the smell. It was relaxi- Wait a minute. He let out a huff of air, before flapping himself off the ground and heading towards the Oddish with a Tackle.
