"Well, that's annoying." Leah stated bluntly, looking overly angry about it, "I mean, what kind of gym leader isn't at their own gym? What the hell is wrong with them? Why I shoulda just barged right in there and demanded a battle. They think we came to Fighting city for no reason at all? Just to sightsee perhaps? NO. I came to do what the name says. Fight." She continued to look peeved as she scanned the route ahead of them."We'll hang out here and catch a couple of pokemon or level ours up a bit." She stated ro River. More like demanded, actually, "And then we will go back and try again." She was stomping with her hands in little balls in anger. She would enjoy beating the crap out of that gym leader, she would. Her Stantler looked at her solemly, not really knowing what to do about it. There was no other pokemon with her. "I mean REALLY, River. Can you believe the rudeness of some people?!"

"Yeah," he responded, scratching the back of his neck with a bored expression as he continued walking, looking out at the scenery ahead of them. It wasn't exactly...the prettiest place. He wrinkled his nose. What a mess. The water ahead of them was so...murky. Pokemon lived here? It was a good thing he didn't have Azami out. Considering how much she was alike her original namesake, she would have gone back in her pokeball anyways. Tadeo, meanwhile, was hanging onto River's shirt, bent over his shoulder and staring forwards with wide eyes at the large pokemon ahead; Leah's Stantler. Nonetheless, River agreed with what Leah had said. He was all pumped up for the gym battle, too. He wanted to see what he was up against. The fact that they were stuck here in this natural dumpster wasn't a pleasant one. He shrugged, and nodded. "Alright. A little more training and another pokemon wouldn't hurt." With that, Tadeo hopped off of him, exploring around for a little while, walking on only two feet instead of four.

(Uwah, lesse how this works, eh?)
Two pairs of eyes watched Tadeo, the humans, and the other, larger pokemon. One pair blinked. The other narrowed.
A sleepy-looking slowpoke yawned slightly as the humans came up the trail. This was nothing new. Humans came here all the time. They were such a bore. Life, in itself, was such a bore. Nothing to do but sit and wait for something to happen. Of course, he could go somewhere, but that meant work. And that meant getting up and moving.
Work? Labor? Muscle power? Why'd anyone ever bother? He was happy where he was.
His companion glanced at him sourly. <Lookit that! People! People here, and you're yawning?> He huffed. <You need to rethink the way you live... we could be a couple a' tough fellas right about now, kings of this lazy mountain! Yet you sit around and yawn when such a perfect opportunity passes you by. Let's go have some fun!> The mushroom pokemon puffed himself up. His tiny, beady eyes wandered back to Leah and River.
The slowpoke merely looked at him, blinking slowly. <Theres no point... They'd win anyway... I have no interest in being a 'king'... Shut up already.>
The shroomish replied with a huff, mumbled <Lazybutt.> Under his breath, and royally marched out onto the road. He planted himself in front of the trainers, (Or, mainly, the exploring Tadeo,) and puffed himself up even more, as much as he could.
<We be the warriors of this here mountain! And we demand battle!> He called proudly. Meanwhile, his partner rambled out of the bush after, to the shroomish's side, and plopped down on the ground. A grand pair of warriors indeed, they were.

Leah stopped, guesturing for Feo to stop behind her. The Stantler ran into her hand that she left out to slow him, blinking at her curiously then taking notice of the other two pokemon. <Well, pokemon of the mountain.> She said briskly, <We accept your challenge.> She tried to think of something more exciting to say, but couldn't. Instead she took to crossing her arms in front of her chest and looking fierce. Well, as fierce as a small skitty morph could look.
Already she was deciding which pokemon to use, picking her Beedrill if she was fighting the Shroomish.. and.. the Slowpoke would probably face Feo.. Zion didn't seem like the best choice. She didn't know how good fighting was against water. She was a new pokemon trainer after all.

River watched, slightly unimpressed as the Shroomish came and stopped itself right in front of him. Still, he grinned as he heard what the little pokemon said. A battle? "Deal." he grinned, and then glanced over to Leah. "Who's getting who?" he asked, figuring it would be a double battle. He'd have to bring out someone else if she wanted to face the Slowpoke, since Tadeo would be useless against a Shroomish...grass against grass wouldn't go anywhere. Still, if he did end up facing the shroomish, Azami would be his best choice. Or maybe his new Skarmory...it would be a good chance to test out his new pokemon...still, he waited, a tinge of impatience hitting him as he waited for Leah to answer.

The shroomish huffed again, his little mouth twisting into a frown.
<You take too long.> He complained. He wouldn't waste time waiting fot this human to be picky. Who did he think he was, anyway?
The mushroom pokemon began to shake madly, still standing firm in front of the treecko. As he shook, a Stun Spore fell from his spotted skin like snow, showering over Tadeo.
Shroomish used stun spore!
As he did so, the slowpoke watched his partner. Wait, they were battling now? He stared at the other trainer, and the other pokemon. Of course he'd be left with the tall one. Whatever. The pokemon lifted himself up from the gound into a sitting position, watching Leah curiously. He could wait as long as she needed. It didn't really matter to him either way.
Slowpoke is watching curiously.

The larger pokemon didn't know what to do with the Slowpoke. He stared at the pinkish pokemon for a while before glancing back at Leah who was looking at him expectantly. <Don't give me that look, Feo. Pummel him. I don't care how innocent he looks.> The Stantler looked like he might argue, but didn't. Instead he turned around and backed up, antlers lowered. He watched the pink pokemon quickly, identifying its location, and then leaping at it with a Tackle attack.

River glanced down at the pokemon as the Shroomish used Stun Spore. Frowning, he lifted out Tadeo's pokeball and returned him. At least, technically, he might get some experience for this too. "Alright West, let's go!" Upon being released, the Skarmory looked down at the Shroomish and then back at River as if he was joking. The pikachu morph pointed down at the little grass pokemon. "Get it." he stated blankly, feeling a momentary panic that this pokemon might have been one that didn't listen to people at all, or hated battling, or...who knows what. He hadn't bothered to find out information about it at the adoption agency. Maybe...I should've done that... <Whatever. Don't order me around.> The Skarmory scoffed. River gaped. Still, the large bird pokemon went forwards anyways with an attack, running along the ground towards the Shroomish before lunging with it's beak, going for a peck attack. A little relieved and a little scared, River let out a sigh, before looking sideways at Leah and the Stantler with the Slowpoke and then returning his gaze to the battle at hand.

<Gyaaah!>
The Shroomish could feel the super-effective peck attack pound down on his soft head, making his vision swim. As he tried regaining his focus, his comrade was slightly better off.
Slowpoke, having been watching Feo and Leah intently, was rather expecting the tackle attack. However, that didn't make it less damaging. As he was rammed into by the deer pokemon, he was thrown back a couple of feet, but otherwise his expression remained the same as if nothing had happened. Instead, he got back up, still staring at Feo. He now opened his mouth humungously wide and let out a massive, very contagious yawn.
Slowpoke used Yawn!
Now that shroomish had somewhat been able to pull himself together, he was furious. What a cheapskate, using a bird pokemon against a grass-type! He'd have to be given a lesson on real battling.
The tiny mushroom shook himself again, though this time a weak green aura surrounded both he and Skarmory, before a little of the bird's pokemon health was sapped away.
Shroomish used Absorb!

Leah and River weren't the only two people that were here on Route 5 and interested in these two pokemon. From a crack between two boulders surrounded by waist high bushes, another pair of well concealed eyes watched the battle, fascinated. The lips of the young woman twisted into a smile. The trainers were battling two pokemon she herself had fought before. She wondered how strong the pair were now, and the lucario crouched behind her seemed to sense what she was thinking. <They were quite the handful last time. I bet they are stronger now.> the lucario whispered to Kara, so quietly it was barely audible. Kara nodded, her eyes still on the battle. <I'll think we'll wait here and see what happens next.> Kara whispered back to the lucario in poketongue.

Feo watched the Slowpoke, slightly annoyed that the pink blobish pokemon acted so bored with this battle already. He couldn't help himself though, and returned the yawn with one of his own, eyes dropping slightly as he alreayd struggled to stay awake. Why was he so tired? He shook himself, forcing his eyes to stay open. <Come on Feo. You can't sleep during a battle! Tackle!> The pokemon obeyed, shaking himself again and leaping forward with another horn batter to the other pokemon. He felt extremely woozy, but he needed to stay up. He wasn't tired just a minute ago..

River grinned as the Shroomish fell back, and the Skarmory frowned as it had an absorb attack suck out some of it's remaining energy. "Don't worry about it. Go for it again!" River called out, getting too into the battle and rewarding himself with a harsh glare from West. <I'll do what I want.> And, simply being rebellious, the bird pokemon attacked again, but not with Peck like River had asked him to. Instead, he sent out a Swift attack, several small, yet sharp-looking yellow stars aiming directly towards the Shroomish. He knows Swift? River thought, taking a step back. That attack never misses...Awesome.

Again, slowpoke was thrown back without a sound by the tackle. But he could feel a bruise start to form on his left side... that wasn't good. Getting back up on his feet, he stumbled once, but was able to steady himself. At least he was better off than shroomish. And he was a much higher level...
This time, knowing that his opponent would most likely doze off soon, he decided to highten up some stats while he could. Suddenly, his eyes seemed to flash, and he almosed looked even concentrated. His attack and defence had both gone up, while his speed fell- which he was already lacking anyway.
Slowpoke used Curse!
Things weren't going well on the other battlefeild- yet another attack from Skarmory left the wild Shroomish weak and panting for breath.
<What a battle... I've never been in one like this before, and it's only been two turns...>
He swayed a bit from side to side, feeling even more lightheaded. But he wasn't gonna give up yet. Again, that green aura surrounded both he and skarmory as he tried to regain just a little more health.
Shroomish used Absorb!

The Stantler started forward, knowing his trainer was gonna ask for another tackle attack. He swayed, and without thinking layed down and fell asleep. Leah was shocked. Did she force him to walk too much? What was wrong with him? Being quick, she called him back into his pokeball, eyes narrowed angrily at the Slowpoke, though she had no idea this really was his fault. She grabbed another pokeball, tossing it in the air. A flash of red light filled the sky before a Beedrill formed. The bug pokemon looked down at the Slowpoke. Without waiting for an order, he dove at the pink pokemon, needle arms out for a Fury Attack. She blinked at the ferocity of the attack. Suddenly she wished she had gotten to know the crazy pokemon before choosing him.

West flinched a bit as the Absorb attack hit, narrowing his eyes. That stupid Shroomish had it coming. Deciding he didn't want the little grass pokemon to dodge his next attack, he sent another Swift attack at him. Even if this one might not make him faint, at least he couldn't dodge it. Still, it had a limited amount of PP, even for the Skarmory's level.
River frowned as he saw him use Swift. Why Swift? A peck would finish him off! Slightly frustrated, he watched with a bit of annoyance, before his gray eyes looked sideways upon hearing a buzzing sound. The Beedrill? He blinked in shock. That thing was vicious. Man, we definitely asked for this...
