Mystique Forester yawned as she got out of bed promptly at 8:15 with plans to be at the lab no later than nine. She got dressed, then took a good long fifteen minutes on her hair. Her parents were still asleep, but they knew her plans for today, her big first day as a trainer. She went to their room, giving each a soft kiss and leaving them a note she wrote the night before. Going to the kitchen Mystique poured herself some Poke-O's with milk and ate them, then grabbed half an Oran Bagel for the walk. She took a last look at home and then headed out to the lab of her hometown, Peace Village. It was a beautiful morning with a cool breeze and a sweet scent being carried on it.
Once she was at the Peace Village Lab she knocked to give warning and then opened the door. "Professor? You here? It's me, Mystique. I'm here for my starter."

The lab was bustling with life- a rare occasion in Peace Village, where things were generally, well, peaceful. Young Pigeys and Spearows carried packs from the doorway on the left and placed them on the desk in the center of the room. A Pichu was there, quickly shoving Pokeballs and various other items inside. Then, a Totodile was there to place the filled bags in a pile on the other side of the room.
"Oh, hello there!" Came a cheery voice from yet another doorway. A young man poked his head out, giving the trainer-to-be a wide grin. "I'll be out in a sec, okay?" At the warning, his head disappeared and multiple of those 'secs' went by before he emerged again.
"Sorry about the wait, we're trying to restock in training supplies around here." He said this with just as much enthusiasm as before, but a little more restrained due to the large box he was carrying. Once he set it beside the Pichu, who gave a happy, "Pi~" in response, he straightened out his shirt and stepped towards her.
"You here for a Pokemon or a job?" Interns were needed, but he thought those were coming next Tuesday... "If you want a job, I'll give you some papers to fill out. If you want a Pokemon, just name the type you're looking for and we'll get started."

Mystique waited for the young man who was most likely the Professor to get back and watch the Pokemon working. She took a bite of her bagel, chewed and swallowed. Mystique hoped none of the Pokemon noticed it. They might not of eaten yet and could be hungry.
When the Professor returned, he asked her two questions. The first one was easy: was she here for a Pokemon or an internship. She answered that one quickly. "If its not any trouble, I'd like a Pokemon." The second question was which type she wanted, which was a bit hated. Mystique didn't plan on which she wanted, so she decided to go with her favorite type. "As for typing, I'd like a Psychic type, please. She was getting a bit nervous about this, but she figured everyone getting their starter was like this. Mystique was ready for her choices. There had to be something she liked to pick from.

"Psychic?" He inquired, mouth widening into an even bigger grin, "What a fantastic choice! Looking for an Alakazam? Gardevoir? Hypno?" He listed off the ones that came to his mind first, feeling instantly excited for her. Watching others get their first Pokemon always filled him with a warm enjoyment that made the daily paperwork well worth it.
"Alright, well you just stand there and I'll do the magic~" He said happily, turning his back to her to shuffle quickly towards the machine in the far corner. "Heeeere we go..." He gathered the offered Pokeballs quickly, leaving the fourth in the slot for a later time.
"You may choose one of these." He said simply, tossing them one at a time between them. He caught each ball as it returned, though his eyes remained on the fading red light as the three creatures emerged.
First, a Slowpoke. The Pokemon looked around for a moment before laying back down on his arm. His tail searched for a moment, as if checking for water before it, too, stilled. The second and third Pokemon emerged with much more enthusiasm, the Mr. Mime taking it upon himself to shake hands with the professor, as well as grab the prospective trainer and give her hand an enthusiastic shake as well. The Ralts beside him seemed both excited to be free, and confused at the Mr. Mine's antics, inputting a small, "Ral..?" and tilting her head to the side curiously.
"There is also a fourth, if none of these suit you, but it is a mystery." He tapped his head, grinning, "Unless of course you are Psychic. I am sure all of these Pokemon know what it is!" He laughed at the thought, not even thinking twice about the unexpected hand shake.

"Oh, I'm no Psychic, but I'm a fan of those kind of Pokemon." Mystique stated. She watched as the Professor sent out the three Pokemon. They were all kind of interesting, and she giggled as the Mr. Mime shook her hand.
Looking at her choices Mystique knew exactly what she wanted: the Ralts. The Slowpoke was a bit to lazy for her tastes, and even though the Mr. Mime would make a fun partner, the Ralts was just adorable! Looking her straight in the eyes. or at least about where they would be if they weren't covered with her built-in helmet. "I'd like the Ralts, please." Grinning at the little Psychic Pokemon, she patted her helmet. "I'll call you Lily, after my mother's starting Pokemon."

"Ah so it was a Gardevoir you were after!" He said warmly, returning the Mr. Mime as he tried to shake the Pichu's hand, not wanting him to disrupt the routine. The Slowpoke vanished quickly after, "Wonderful Pokemon. They are very protective of their trainers and others they trust. I heard they can predict the future, too!"He placed the remaining Pokeballs into the machine, and them along with the fourth mystery one all slid up easily through the tubes. "Pokemon, check! Bag...?" On his que, the Totodile approached her boldly, holding up a backpack full of supplies. Name: Trainer's choice Level: 6 Gender: Female Personality: Sweet and kind, this Pokemon will need some extra coaxing to start fights. She is very empathetic, and will often share the emotions of the ones she cares about. Moveset: Growl, Confusion Ability: Synchronize Pack;; Pokedex x1 Pokeballs x5 Potions x2 Oran Berry x1

Mystique gladly accepted the bag and the Ralts' Pokeball. She reached into the backpack and saw her items, then looked at the Ralts, Totodile, and the Professor, beaming. "Thank you guys very much!" She signaled with her hand for her new Pokemon to come over to her. "Like I said, I'll call you Lily! Ready for some fun? I've never really gone out before, so this'll be a new thing for both of us."
Lily let out a small "Ral." and smiled a bit at her. Mystique smiled back at her.
Breaking off a small piece of the little left of her bagel, Mystique handed it to her starter Pokemon. "It's all yours. A small gift of friendship." Lily took it, studied it, then ate the small bit of breakfast food.
"Professor, I'm going to be of now if you don't mind. Thank you for Lily and the supplies!" Mystique was now in a much happier mood, barely worried about what was to come.

(( =) You can either go up or down from Peace Village for your next board. ))
He and the Totodile (who was attempting to procrastinate from his work) both waved, offering a, "Have an exciting- and safe- trip!" Even the Pichu offered a small, excited wave with its tail before giving a little "Pi!" and ordering the Totodile to attend to the ever growing pile of bags now on the table.

Smiling one last time at the Professor and his cute Pokemon helpers, Mystique replied with "I will! Thanks again!" as she headed out the door, Lily following close behind.
Outside, Mystique looked around. She could go up the cliff or through the forest. "Where to next, Lily? The cliff or the forest?" she asked her Pokemon.
The Ralts looked both ways, considering the options, and then pointed to Ridgewood Forest while letting out a small "Ral."
"Well then! I guess we're off to Ridgewood Forest! You ready?" Mystique asked. Lily nodded, and they headed towards the entrance to the forest, ready for their adventure to begin....
