Appearance;
There's no... easy way to go about this, is there? Ahaha. Let's see... oh. Yeah, I'm a pokemorph. Before the incident, I was slightly over six feet tall, but now I'm somewhere around five foot seven with a noticeable slouch. Hard to make it a constant reminder to stand up straight. My skin is a dark, dark tan - honestly looks like the color a person gets from working outside a lot, but if you look closer, there's a certain dull purple tint to it. Or maybe I'm the only one who ever notices it. No-one really looks at me more than myself, I guess. Hair is jet black, shaggy. Bangs tend to fall over my eyes, back curls and spikes in different directions.
...Eyes are large, clearly belonging to a nocturnal creature, and my pupils are nearly the same color as the iris. Crimson. I don't know why I have red 'gems' for eyes instead of some sort of quartz like most Sableye, and I don't know why they're rounded off and not cut in a fancy fashion like most gemstones. Don't really care. They're rarely seen anyway; my hair either covers them or my sunglasses do. I still have a nose. A rather human nose. My ears transformed into notched, elongated triangles. Mouth widened, jaw set and strengthened. I'm also now complete with a formidable row of sharp teeth. I used to be handsome, but now I'm not so sure.
To wrap this up, I wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, boots and leather gloves, all to cover up the gems that've made their way to the surface from under my skin. On my arms, they're mostly along the out and underside, and the sizes are fairly small - mole-sized to no bigger than a dime, all different colors. There are larger ones on my back, and a few trail up the back of my neck. Legs are kind of spared from the gemstone mess. Lastly, my feet have shapen themselves to have only four short, clawed toes, and while I still have five fingers, they and up to my wrist are now a dark purple, transformed into claws sharp and strong enough to dig through nearly anything. I keep them covered always. ...Almost always.
Personality;
History;
My childhood was nothing. I'm not being modest - there really wasn't anything to it. I grew up in a boy's home after being orphaned at age seven due to a tragic incident that killed both parents, no other family to my knowledge or name. It made things easier, really. I only had myself and what few friends I did have to look after and care for. Quite the simple life. I still went to school, but lessons regarding pokemon were few and far between aside from Biology and general identification quizzes. Well, I won't lie. There was more focus on Rock, Steel, Dark and Ghost pokemon, simply because of the fact that we lived in Oreburgh. Nevertheless, knowledge regarding pokemon was mostly stowed away in the farther recesses of my mind.
It was during the later years of my schooling when I took a particular interest in the Mining Museum, especially the pokemon fossils. Apparently, not many kids wanted to stay in Oreburgh to work and give back to the city, so when my teachers realized my interest, they helped me nuture it and eventually score a job within the mines once I graduated. Simple work at first - identify the different minerals, stones, deposits; shift piles of this or that there; clear areas for new tunnels. I wasn't really allowed to delve deeper into the mines until later, and around the same time I managed to pick up a girlfriend.
She wasn't perfect, nor was she someone I'd fall in head over heels for - in fact, she was the one who came to me. But after spending nearly every day with her in the mines, working by her side, things changed. At 20 years old we were engaged and due to marry that summer, and I'd made substantial progress within the mine. I was happy. Content. Life couldn't have been better. But, of course, that's when things went to hell.
My boss came to me with a proposal, declaring that myself, along with four other select individuals, were chosen to go through an experiment within the company. The details were sketchy, but if we were to agree, we would be given a nice, fat raise and promotion. I'd never been one for money, but with a wedding on the way and a potential family... it seemed like the right choice. I hadn't told my fiance. Wanted it to be a surprise. All I let her know was we would be taking a week-long expedition underground, and although she was skeptical - we did work together, of course, and she hadn't heard of this - she wished me luck and bade me farewell. I went in the next day for what I thought was a routine checkup for this 'expedition', received a shot to the arm, and fell asleep.
When I awoke, I was in the mines. Was... that some sort of odd dream? Hah. I remember how I tried to keep telling myself that, especially when I noticed the differences. I didn't need my light to see in the darkness - didn't need any equipment to dig. Could fit through spaces unable of exploration. Could hear things unknown to me a day ago. It was instinct - natural to put worries behind me in favor of digging for food. Food? Yes. Minerals. Deposits. Things the company mined for profit. Not completely odd, but I'd never referred to them as food. Somehow, it hadn't hit me until I met another like me within the mines that had also been changed, that something was wrong.
Liam... Liam, it's you, isn't it? Oh, but you don't look like Liam... then again, I don't look like myself either... what have they done to us, Liam? What have they done?! We're changed. ...Changed. Changed...
A man, or what used to be a man, had said that to me, but he'd been transformed into some sort of Lairon hybrid that I care not to remember the exact details of. I couldn't even tell who he had been beforehand. But when I raised my hand to find claws instead of fingers, I saw he was right. Apparently, we had signed contracts with the company to be lab Ratatta to undergo experiments to fuse our DNA with that of pokemon who were keen on where the things we needed to mine would be located. For a week we slaved against our will for this purpose, but something the scientists hadn't counted on were us eating the resources we found.
After that week, we were fired and kicked out of the company, all evidence of the backfired experiment burned. However, we weren't released from the tunnels. They triggered a set cave-in, determined to erase even our existance from their records. All were trapped except me. I don't even recall how I managed to get out. I just... kept digging. I'm pretty sure they don't realize I freed myself, for a few days later, my obituary was in the paper along with the others from the event. Still, I couldn't just leave my fiance. She would understand... right? She'd still accept me. It was a freak accident. I was still the same person.
...Wrong. I was a freak now, raised from the dead or something else unnatural to her. I no longer existed. Disgusting. Mutant. Horrible. Deranged. So I left Oreburgh from good - left Sinnoh. That was three years ago. With nothing else to live for, I've decided that it was finally time to do something. So, why not become a pokemon trainer?
