Up ahead, two pokemon seemed to be facing off, battling, and circling each other...right in the middle of the path. "Spin! Spinarak!" They were Spinaraks. Two little green spiders, with faces on their abdomens made to scare people off...and these two were obviously angry at each other for something.

This time, Hinako felt alright with reaching into her bag and digging around until she pulled out her pokedex. It wasn't like she didn't know what a spinark was, it was just nice to have a neat little record all nice and ready for later on, if she ever needed something. She looked down at Ember with a face that made her look as if she was asking, "Wanna intervene?"
Houndour pawed at the ground. The poor guy liked to fight too much. Maybe it was now that he had the Marill that he felt a need to compete and get ahead and stay there. Maybe he knew that that would mean going the extra mile, and so he was doing so.
Hinako looked at the spinarks one last time. She wasn't really sure if she wanted to catch one, after all, she had to conserve the few pokeballs she had left. But Ember could gain some experience from fighting them, so for now she waited.

They were still bickering amongst each other, talking to each other with angered clicks and hisses. <Go away! This is my part of the path!> <Is not!> the other one replied, and then they both turned, looking at Hinako in surprise. <Now look. You were too stubborn to let us get out of the way before a trainer came.> <It ain't my fault, loser.> <Yeah it is!> <Shut up!> they went back to arguing. It seemed they were just gonna keep going on for forever...

Hinako curiously watched the spinark, Ember at her side, not wanting to charge right into a fight if it meant it could put Hinako into danger. But these little guys were blocking her path, and she figured there was only one good way to get them to move.
"Ember, use an ember, ok?" Hinako said, pointing over to them. Ember looked at her for a moment, and then grinned to himself, walking a step closer and barking before lowering his head, forming the flame. He brought his head up, and once again he spat out the flames at the pokemon.

Only one of the Spinaraks got hit, and it fell backwards. The move had done a big deal of damage. The other one pointed and laughed. <Haha, see? That's karma right there!> <As if!> the other complained, looking obviously displeased. <You should have gotten burnt!> <Guess I'm just lucky.> the other Spinarak laughed, and then disappeared, running off into the grass. The one remaining gaped, and then turned back to the Houndour in frustration. <Fine then...> it grumbled, and then immediately sent a poison sting at the Houndour.

Ember yelped as the sting hit him in the side, and Hinako knew what that could mean. Poison. She didn't have anything to counter the effects of poison, and for now she had to watch to see if Ember appeared to need the aid of an antidote or a pokemon center. The way Ember jumped back to his feet, Hinako didn't think that was the case.
"Alright, Ember try another," Hinako said, knowing full well that the bug type was much, much weaker against a fire type than that Marill had been. Ember lowered his head once more, the flames forming before he brought it back up and spat out the fire with a bark.
<I'm gonna win this one!> Houndour growled to himself and the spinark in a language that Hinako wouldn't understand.

(( Oh yeahz. From earlier, I forgot. Ember gains one level! xD ))
The Spinarak frowned. <Yeah yeah, whatever.> it replied, dodging the ember this time. It was obviously a little faster and more agile. This time, it used Scary Face, a larger version of the face on it's abdomen appearing as the rest of the area darkened, looming over the Houndour in a very eery and scary image before disappearing.

Slowed down slightly, Ember shook his head for a moment as Hinako looked at the little spinark. Did she want to use her pokeball, or did she want to wait till later on? Well, for now, she considered catching it, but then she though about the troubles that having too many pokemon might bring. Especially ones that don't get along.
Bubble might not be too happy with Ember right now, but for now they'd have to bear with it. "Ember, use growl," Hinako said, looking at the spinark. Ember let out a low growl at the spinark.

The spinarak was obviously upset when it's attack was lowered, but went to use another Scary Face anyways. The image reappeared, looming even more so this time as the little bug pokemon put more effort into it.

Hinako looked at the face herself, deciding she didn't want a pokemon that would scare her more than her pokemon. The face that was shown was pretty scary to Hinako, and she turned to Ember, seeing that he had simply shut his eyes, still growling lowly.
<Not this time spider!> Ember growled as the effect faded.
"Ember, one last time, use another ember," Hinako said. Once again, Ember lowered his head, flames forming as he did. He let out another bark as his head flew upwards and flames flew right at the spinark.

The Spinarak was hit this time, and burned again, ended up fainting. It fell backwards and tried to get up once more, but to no avail. Turning over and landing on it's back, it's legs curled upwards, very much resembling a regular dead spider. With spirals on it's eyes, it had obviously given up.
Ember gains one level!

Ember grinned back at his trainer, despite being tired at this point. Hinako knelt down beside him and hugged him around the neck. "You're awesome, y'know that?" Hinako turned back to the unconsious spider and she stood, walking around it. "Sorry little guy, you were blocking the road for everyone." She turned back to Ember, seeing the fact that the little guy was getting tired, and she held out his pokeball. "Wanna take a break while I walk?"
<Call me if you need me.> Ember barked to Hinako as he was returned to his ball. He was sure she didn't understand, but it was fine. Hinako placed the ball back into the pocket of her backpack and started to walk on.
