Connor's throat was dry, and he was sweltering. It was winter, but the desert was still hotter than the rest of Sasqui. Since it was so much a change in temperature, it felt like it was hotter than it actually was. The red-eyed 'morph was gradually getting used to it, however. Caliga, his new Murkrow, was perched on his shoulder. Fluvi the Floatzel was walking alonside him, Sulgeo the Illumise flutterin a little overhead. Connor had known that being a trainer was tough, but this was perhaps a little too hard going. He must admit, the routes of Sasqui had made a great first impression... yes, of course he was being sarcastic. He prefered the climate of the town he'd just been in.
~How much longer, Connor?~ Sorati asked. As a Dark type, he was fine in the regular amount of sunshine, but this was just annoying. The albino replied after a quick check of his watch. "Not long. It should start to get dark in a few more hours. It'll be cooler then, and we can go on through the night; I don't fancy spending another day in this heat." he informed the Murkrow, who smiled. He was fine with that. He felt a little happy as he looked at his trainer, being again reminded that they were opposites- he felt they looked cool together. ~Open wide!~ said Fluvi, quite spontaneously. Connor was unsure of what the weasel was doing, but obeyed. A Water Sport was used into his mouth, and he grinned as it soothed his throat. "Thanks, Fluvi." he said, a little surprised that he'd done that.

A shadow flew over Conner, and a gleeful, "Gligaaaar!" was called out. Night was going to be falling soon, so most of the Desert's Pokemon were starting to stir. Aparently, some faster than others. "Gli! Gaaar!" the purple Pokemon blinked down at Conner and company, tilting his body to do another circuit of the odd band. "Gar?" he landed on his tail a little ways away from the troop, rotating to get a better look at them. "Gligar." he squinted, trying to see if he could ever remember any Pokemon like that here before.

Connor smiled as the Gligar landed. Oh, a Gilgar! They were pretty cool. They had quite a good type matchup, and could learn some pretty good moves, too. They also could evolve into a Gliscor, a Pokémon which was pretty awesome. Yeah, he'd probably like to catch it. Still, it was always best to see what the Pokémon wanted before he did anything, right? "I'm going to talk with it. Caliga, you might be needed for a battle." he muttered to his Pokémon. The Murkrow nodded as the 'morph advanced.
"Hey there, Gligar. My name's Connor. My Pokémon are Caliga the Murkrow, Fluvi the Floatzel and Sulgeo the Illumise. How are you this fine night?" he greeted the bird, wishing he could speak that easily in a social event with a human.

The Gligar stared, little red tongue poking out in thought as he heard lot's of names and no recognition flared in his mind. Maco would probably know, but he would be sleeping now. Dude didn't wake up for nothin and no one. Which, was annoying, but Giroo figured that he could handle the job himself. The little purple winged-scorpian drew himself up and tried to look more regal than he had a few moments before. But he ruined it by listening to Conner and instantly dropping his act, ~I'm cool, dood.~ he replied instantly, casually leaning on his tail, before he blinked and grimaced. So much for that then... ~Uh. I mean. Welcome to the Desert, Traveler. And, uhm...~ he thought hard for a moment, before the sand pooled next to him and an irritated Trapinch poked his head out, ~Stop being stupid.~ she muttered, looking cross. That stupid gliding Pokemon was always ruining everything.

Connor watched as Gligar switched from being formal to casual. It seemed like the desert Pokémon had some sort of act going on with outsiders or something. Caliga on the boy's shoulder found it all very amusing, and chuckled softly until the Trapinch emerged. He was a bit stunned at that, completely unsure of what to make of the Ground type randomly emerging like that. Sulgeo made a move, fluttering up to the newcomer and greeting her. ~Lighten up, Trapinch my girl. Gligar can have fun if he wants, can't he?~ Caliga cawed as the Illumise moved away, not entirely sure if it was safe to act like that to Trapinch.

The Gligar fixed the flying-creature with a look of shock, and shock his head back and forth in a furvent 'No!' ~Excuse me?~ the little orange Pokemon whipped her beady gaze upwards, ~Do you live here? Do you have to deal with this loud little snot everyday? Everyday before the sun sinks low over the horizon? You don't even know who your talking you, or where you are. Your just some bound Pokemon who will blindly follow a Trainer to the ends of the earth - to your death.~ She stared hard at the troupe, letting her displeasure sink in, ~Idiots. The lot of you. Blundering into a Desert and then insulting the second Pokemon you see. Your shaping up to be a real Pokemon Master, kiddo.~ she turned her shelled back to the group, mumbling further to herself; but too lowly for anyone to make out. The Gligar took to the air, swooping a little closer to them all, and leaning over to whisper, ~She's pretty moody. Lot's of us just humor her... You should prolly apologize.~ he confided the last part, leaning on his claws instead of his tail, ~It'll be dark soon, too. I can take you to meet Maco. I'm Giroo, by the way.~ he raised his voice, ~That delicate desert rose is Mykan.~ the mumbles grew slightly louder in response - but no more legible.

"Way to go, Caliga." Connor muttered to the Murkrow as Mykan grumbled away. The bird winked, eyes sparkling happily. He fluttered up to Connor's head, breathing in some of the lovely air of a gathering night. Ah, night time. He just loved it. Sulgeo did too. In fact, Fluvi was the only Pokémon on Connor's team who wasn't nocturnal, and he didn't mind staying up late. Not if he was around Giroo, anyway. The Gligar seemed a friendly chap, a general nice guy.
"Sorry, Mykan. Caliga is like most Murkrow; rude and selfish." Connor apologised to the Trapinch. In response, Caliga puffed up his chest feathers proudly; he was rather pleased with himself for causing a little mischeif. Fluvi rolled his eyes, and Sulgeo hovered above the crow with a look of slight humour on her face. Connor, meanwhile, shrugged as Giroo mentioned 'Maco'. He had no idea who or what Maco was, but he didn't have anything better to do. "Sure, I'll meet this Maco."

Giroo beamed, ~Awesometastic, doods! I'll take you right to Maco! Normally wakes up 'round now anyway.~ Mykan did not seem overly enthused at the apology from the trainer and not the one who offended her, but her grumbling ceased to mutters and she nodded. ~Follow us. Last thing I need is for this fool to take you somewhere dangerous.~ her beady eyes glared up at the proud crow, ~Though it would probably save a lot of Pokemon a lot of trouble.~ moving forward on her short legs, she moved off towards the northwest, the Gligar grinning above him, ~Maco will tell you what you need to know; if you need to know anything.~ he assured the Trainer.
