"Aw, it'll be fine. Bloody hell, I'm sure I can look after a pokemon. It's just a pokemon. Everyone does it. I can do it." James was talking to himself as he walked up to the laboratory, not any quieter than as if he was talking to someone else. But, there wasn't anyone there, so he figured it didn't matter how loudly he talked.
He was carrying his jacket in a sort of a duffel bag he was using as his backpack, a black thing he slung around his shoulder. It was nice and warm out, too hot for a jacket. He turned his dark brown gaze towards the sea, and took in a deep breath of the salty air around him. It was just as humid as Slateport, if not more so. Least it was familiar. Lifting his right hand, he ruffled up his hair as he stopped at the door of the gigantic building. Checking himself in the reflection of one of the windows, he fixed his hair a bit, nodded, and then went back to knock confidently on the door.
He didn't even know what pokemon he wanted yet. Oh well... things would always turn out in the end, somehow.

The door opened to reveal a mess of pokemon scurrying around. A girl was quickly returning them all into their pokeballs. It was hard to tell who had opened the door until a Kecleon became visible at the doorstep a second before being absorbed by a red light. There were still at least seven pokemon scurrying about when the girl noticed the boy, guesturing quickly for him to come in. "Sorry about the mess! The stupid mechanic tried to fix the machine and it started going haywire and releasing a load of pokemon every few seconds! I almost got 'em all, but as you can see there's a couple left. Whadda need, anyways?" She said all this, but never actually directed herself to face him, kneeling to look under a desk where a Pichu was hiding. She tried to return it, but it jumped out of the beam of light and it tookher another try before it was finally absorbed into the ball. As soon as she caught it, she put it back into the machine and it sucked the ball up quickly. She continued her search, still waiting for an answer.

James blinked and then grinned faintly as he saw the chaos inside the room. He opened his mouth, and then jumped a bit as he looked down and saw the Kecleon appear out of nowhere. He walked in, letting the door fall shut behind him, and watching the Pichu get caught into a pokeball. For a moment he'd let himself get caught up in the big scramble, but then he remembered what he wanted. "Don't worry 'bout it," he replied, still smiling. The lab was real impressive to him. "I'm 'ere to get myself a pokemon... I'd be interested in gettin' an electric one, if that's possible. Not sure how it works here, you know..." he scratched the back of his neck and then ruffled his hair a bit, still staring around the lab as he took a few more steps in, nearly tripping over a Spinda that was spiraling around on the floor.

The woman smiled at him, returning the Spinda and a Bulbasaur who was hiding behind a lamp in the corner of the room. She let the machine suck the balls back in before typing 'Electric' in quickly. As the four pokeballs fell into the right slots, she listened intently to notice no other pokemon seemed to be around. Or, at least, no other pokemon were moving around at that very second. She was sure she'd find one sooner or later.
She began releasing the pokemon, explaining the process as she did so. "Alright, well you're doing it right. All of these pokemon will be electric type. You will get to see the first three, and if you like one you can choose it. If not, you can try your luck with the mystery ball. Once you choose that one though, there's no turning back!"
The first pokemon released was an Electrike. The pokemon zipped around excitedly from one human to the next, like a growlithe who had just learned to walk. She wiggled exitedly before plopping on the ground giving the back of his head a big scratch with her back hind leg. The second pokemon was an Electabuzz. This pokemon didn't really move from the original spot it was released it. it looked around, but otherwise didn't really seem near as active as the pokemon before. The last pokeball revealed a familiar face. The Pichu that had caused havoc before did a dance excitedly when it realized it was out again. He walked over and picked up a pencil that had fallen off a desk. Once he had it in his hand, he swished it around dangerously at an imaginary opponent.
The woman smiled, "There ya go! Please choose."

James watched with a bit of a curious expression as she explained how the system worked, and as the pokemon were released, he watched with interest to see what options he'd gotten. When the electrike was released, he let out a bit of a laugh, finding himself unable to smile at the spunky pokemon. His gaze then moved to the Electabuzz, but it didn't seem very interesting and didn't do much. When the Pichu was released, he beamed. It was the same one he'd seen just a moment before. When it took the pencil and swung it, James made up his mind. "That one, there." he pointed at it, deciding it was his favourite out of all of them. He didn't want to take a risk with the mystery ball, and this little guy was obviously the best one there. He seemed like he'd be fun. Maybe a bit of a trouble maker, but that was alright. James could deal with him. "Please." he added a bit hastily, flashing a smile in spite of himself as he remembered his manners.

She beamed. That was the one she'da picked too, that's for sure. Returning the other pokemon quickly, she put the pokeballs back in the machine and picked up one of the packs from beside it. "Not sure if you really need this." she said, guesturing towards his own bag, "But it has tons of pokemon supplies you'll need so you should take it anyways."
((Bleh you know the items XD))
The Pichu seemed to know he had been chosen, and puffed his little chest out to appear larger and cooler for his new trainer.
Name; You Choose Level; 5 Gender; Male Personality; Spunky and full of life, this Pichu is quite the trouble maker when it comes right down to it. Make sure to keep a chose on him! Moveset; (will fill out later) Ability; (same xD)

James shrugged with an excited smile on his face that seemed unable to go away. The entire excitement of this journey was finally getting to him. "No problem, I'll find a use for it." he said, taking the little bag full of items. He glanced expectantly towards the Pichu, who followed him out in a very manly sort of walk. James waved to the girl as he started jogging backwards out of the building. "Thanks again!" he added. The Pichu, realizing he wasn't going anywhere fast when he walked like that, broke into a bit of a run to get out of the door as James left the building.
