<Is that it? He’s gone?>
The group of Corphish looked at each other with grave faces, realizing that Carlos might be lost to them forever. Their middle brother had been taken away from them, captured in the hands of a human so he could enslave him and force him to battle on command. Silence gripped them as they handled the thought of this concept. <…Well. That was easier than I thought. Hey guys, let’s go home. That was exciting.. Mom and dad will be happy..> Voices of agreement sounded as the crawfish dived back down into the water.
As Lai traveled down the path, the top of a Politoed broke the surface, droplets of waters falling down from its single black curl. It looked around with a sluggish gaze, spotting the trainer and sinking back under. There were many various frog Pokemon sticking their heads out of the water, the closest to Lai a Croagunk, enough of its head out for its stupid grin to be visable to Lai. Farther down the lake, a log was near the shore, and every once and a while a Wooper scurried in and out of it.

For a while, Lai just walked onwards. He looked around every so often to see the pokemon that were around him, when he saw the Croagunk. He looked at the grin on the pokemon's face, but then he kept walking. Soon, he came across the Wooper. He looked at the pokemon, running in and out of the log, and for a while he just stayed there.

A high-pitched chatter echoed through the log, immediately causing the one Wooper to dash out of it, his mouth hung in a frown. <Woop,> it said hopelessly as it stopped in front of a jumbled assortment of twig and leaves, picking a stick up with its mouth. His little feet pounding on the ground again, it made it back inside the dark tunnel with lightning speed. There was rustling, and after something was seemingly accomplished, the disapproving chattering rang out again.
There was a loud sigh, followed by the exhausted look of the one Wooper.

"What is that Wooper doing?" Lai thought aloud to himself, watching the Wooper curiously. He honestly had no idea WHAT that pokemon was trying to accomplish, if anything at all. He reached into his backpack, pulling out a gronola bar. He peeled back the tin wrapping and took a small bite before he went on watching the Wooper.

The Wooper stopped by the pile again, sorting through nature's garbage and pulling out some leaves. He bundled them together with his feet, sat on it, and tried to relax as best as he could. Deeming the leaves comfortable enough, the Wooper nodded to himself and began dragging them back to the log.
As he carefully tugged them back to his domain, a different Wooper had appeared in front of his enterance. He looked exhausted and angry, and seeing the other Wooper take so long to carry leaves back, she would put her hands on her hips if she had them. She began chattering away like usual, and when she felt he had had enough, she crawled back into the log with a loud huff.
Once again, the male Wooper let out an exhausted sigh.

Lai just sat and observed, still occasionally taking a bite of his granola bar as he did. He figured that both of his pokemon were probably exhausted at the moment, and making them fight so soon would be cruel. He then started to wonder, childishly, if the two Wooper even noticed him. He peeled back the tin wrapper some more, and then he pressed it between his two fingers, letting the wrinkling noise become audible again.

<Woop! Woop Woop Woop!> The female Wooper suddenly turned into a fiery pistol as her companion took longer than usual for his trip to the twig pile. There, standing in front of it, the disgruntled male stared angrily. Why was he the only one doing this? What was she doing? Resting her eyes? He was picking up sticks as quick as possible! He didn’t have hands, for Arceus’s sake! The Wooper decided to pick up a stick and fling it as far in the lake as it could possibly go. He had enough of this.
While Lai hadn’t been looking, a new guest had walked over to the screen. All of a sudden, he felt the need to be noticed, moaning, <Croooooa. Gunnnk,> rather morbidly, though his grin was still there all the same. It reached out a slimy hand and patted it on the trainer’s back.

Too funny. Lai thought the scene was too funny. He started to laugh as he saw the Woopers appearing to bicker, and he took the final bite of his granola bar. That was when he felt something pat his back.
Lai's face went from one of laughter at the scene, to one that seemed rather annoyed, and rather disgusted. He slowly turned his head around, only to see the Croagunk with his hand on Lai's back. He quickly jumped to his feet, glaring at the little pokemon. "What the heck?!"

The Croagunk slid his hand off Lai’s back, and once he turned around the frog let out a pleased ribbit. It’s grin stretched wider and waved his clawed hands in greeting. <Croagunk,> he said, pointing to himself. He turned his finger to Lai, waiting for a response.

"What the heck?" Lai stood there confused, then decided to humor the frog pokemon. "Uh, Lai?" He tried. He thought for a moment about catching this pokemon, and then he thought about whether or not he had the patience for it, and then he thought about whether or not that really mattered, and then he thought about not thinking. Soon, his face grew dumber than a drunken Slowpoke's.

The Croagunk brimmed with happiness with his new friend, this strange- but interesting- creature called Lai. The pink thing didn't seem too bright, though. Just the way it's face looked.. It didn't look like it thought a lot.
The frog let out another cheerful ribbit and lifted his arm out, his palm opened up to the trainer. He moved his claws for a second to point at Lai's hand, then he quickly flung his own back over.

Lai looked at the frog pokemon with a curiosity and then sat down, right where he was standing and looked at the frog. "You're a little weird," Lai said to the pokemon. Then again, Lai probably seemed strange to the pokemon as well. What with the fact that he was at least twice the pokemon's size, along with not having any power alone, Lai began to wonder how pokemon thought of their trainers. Strange, because he normally didn't care too much.

The Croagunk waited awkwardly with his hand stretched out. This was the way pink creatures greeted, wasn’t it? He was pretty sure.. He had seen it plenty of times when they passed by before. Hoping to mend the situation the frog grabbed onto Lai’s hand and began to shake. Nevermind the poison laced in the each of the Croagunk’s middle fingers that could paralyze a human on contact..
At last, the Wooper watched as the last stick on shore sunk into the lake’s abyss. Well, that was it. No more sticks. There was nothing his Wooper mate could do about.. Which, he found strange, she hadn’t done anything about yet. She hadn’t made a sound and had disappeared from sight again. Awfully strange that she had backed down from her anger so fast.. Very uncommon. The male Wooper stood warily, unnerved by the lack of tension in the air. Feeling too bothered, he stayed in place.

Lai's eyes were wide at the Croagunk's response, but he soon found himself with quite a dilema: His entire body was numb. He knew it was from the Croagunk, probably unintentionally. Lai was shaked, like it or not, by the frog pokemon as he tried to say, "L-let go, you- you're po-pois-poison...ing... me..."
His face seemed red with frustration as he wished he could just shake the frog pokemon off...

The Croagunk studied Lai's reaction very closely. His face was twisted and he was turning red.. Maybe his species changed colors as a greeting? He let go of the human's hand as he pondered what it could possibly be trying to say to him. But quickly was he cut off from his thinking as he was suddenly bowled over by the most ferocious, foaming, female Wooper the poor frog had ever seen.
It wasn't after the Croagunk. Lunging with a dramatic battle cry, the small armless creature body slammed straight on top of the lax and unexpecting male Wooper. He lay here, helplessly shocked as his mate beat on him and shot water blasts to the back of his head, yelling <Woop woop woop!> in his ear. It hurt and on top of that it was humiliating..
The Croagunk, honestly a little scared, covered his eyes with his hands. <Croaaa..> it whined, wanting them to disappear.
